Videos Going Viral! Take-A-Seat-O

I think it’s one of the most interesting things in the world how a video all of sudden goes viral. It almost seems like magic for someone to put something up and then it has millions of views. I’m super happy that one of my videos has over eleven thousand views (that’s right, how to spell check in google docs)! Today I’d like you to watch the video above. I heard about it from David yesterday and it has over 1.6 Million VIEWS in four months! Watch the video and in your blog post underneath answer the following questions.

1. Why do you think that videos go viral?
2. Why do you think this video was so popular and got shared so many times?
Give reasons for your answer.
3. Do you think creating videos are an effective way to create change? Why or Why not?

Scarily Descriptive!

As we are coming up to a SCARY event next week, I thought I would use this picture of myself from a few years ago to TERRIFY you, and get you into the right mindset for your weekly blog writing. This week you have a choice of what to write about.
Using PROPER PARAGRAPH form, you can either write:
From the perspective of a child going through a very scary haunted house for the first time, including everything they would hear, feel, barely see, etc.
or
You can describe the scariest costume you can imagine. Include clear descriptions of colours, looks, everything. This can be a costume that you've worn, want to wear or just thought of.
The goal for this is for you to practice your descriptive writing and using different, powerful adjectives that will help you TERRIFY your reader. Transport them to the haunted house, or create the costume in the mind so they quake with fear. Good Luck! MWAH-AH-AH!

As you watched this, I hope you were thinking about what you can do, to help out to make the future a better place. He’s right, we do hear a lot of negative things from the news but as young people, the future is in your hands!
For you blog post this week, write three ways that you plan to help make the future a better place. You have right NOW!

Thankful for So Much!

Thanksgiving is a time to look back on all our blessings and to spend some time reflecting on the positive relationships, kind actions, blessings and the good in our lives. I hope that you get a chance to do this with your family and friends this weekend and even if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, it’s a good time to be grateful for all the positive in our lives. For your blog post this week, I’d like you to write a paragraph that explains WHAT you’re thankful for and WHY. It should be specific and written as a paragraph, with a topic sentence, body sentences, and a conclusion. Here’s mine:
With the smell of hot food cooking, vegetables being roasted, and a fire in the fireplace, I feel thankful. This has been another busy, crazy year but one in which I feel so lucky to have a new school, a new grade, and some great new challenges. I feel very thankful this year for my family, for Jacey, Vera, and Stella and for the ways in which they all contribute to make my life feel full, meaningful, crazy, and complete. It’s such a joy to come home to my family and having them supporting me makes me feel truly blessed. That’s why I’m thankful this holiday.
