After watching the video, I’d like you to either draw (on paper) or using the template that is attached to the homework, create a comic strip that showcases what you will do to help spread the word about water bottles or a comic that summarizes what you’ve learned. If you’re looking for a great place for pictures, you can use the following!
We have been focussing on the Earth and how we can help make the world a better place. One thing we often hear about is that water bottles are trouble, water bottles are bad, that water bottles are horrible! But why? Why is that such an issue, what’s wrong with water bottles? This week for your blog, I’d like you to watch the following video and let’s learn about what can happen with a water bottle during its lifespan.
After watching the video, I’d like you to either draw (on paper) or using the template that is attached to the homework, create a comic strip that showcases what you will do to help spread the word about water bottles or a comic that summarizes what you’ve learned. If you’re looking for a great place for pictures, you can use the following! In honour of Earth Week this week, and to keep with our theme of poetry, please watch the video above. I’ve used this video in the past as a way to showcase the incredible power of poetry and of people. Every single time I watch this video, I am struck by the power of his words. As you watch one man’s ‘apology’ to future generations, for the damage being done today, think about how you can help? Although some of the points he makes refer to American politicians, I think the message he has to share is universal. As you watch, think about his message. Do you agree? For your blog post, in the comments, reflect on the following questions: If you want to respond to the ideas or what you’ll do in poetic form there are a million bonus point in it for you!
This video is titled growth mindset in math. I want you to listen closely to the words of the song, How do they explain growth mindset? Does this connect with your thought on what growth mindset is? We have spent a lot of time talking about Growth Mindset and mistakes in math this year. For your blog post this week, you have a poetry challenge! Can you write song lyrics or a poem about what you think growth mindset is? Your poem does not have to rhyme but most definitely can. The joy of poetry is that there is no wrong way to write a poem. Teach the world about growth mindset through your wonderful, creative poems!
Good Luck! First off, I need to say how impressed I was with your stories last week! Incredible work on using rough drafts, good copies and putting in so much detail in each of your stories and characters. For this week, I’d like us to take it further by using characters from our friends stories, taking their personality traits and having them interact in a story with your character. Your story can take place anywhere but I would like you to have a focus on setting, and conversation. So make sure that you are using quotation marks appropriately. If you’re feeling stuck about how to use quotation marks, check out this resource. To summarize your task once again, please choose at least one other character from one of your classmate’s story. Read their profile and their flaws / faults. Once you feel like you know that character, create a story that includes their character and yours and have a conflict come between them. They can work against each other or together to solve a problem. Be creative but make sure you focus on conversation and setting. |
