Mr. Steltman - Redirecting ...

What direction to choose?

This quote from Dr. Seuss is such a powerful one.  He really offers a message to everyone, each one of us has our own special set of skills, abilities and CHOICE! We can steer ourselves any direction that we choose.  For your task this week, I want you to think of how you can steer yourself in a positive direction.  What is one thing you can do this week that will make a positive difference in someone’s life?
For your blog post this week, choose to do one nice thing that makes a difference for someone.  Describe what you did as a story, or a narrative.  Can you tell it so that we can point out the characters, the conflict, the climax? Tell us the story of your positive choices so that we can all celebrate how we’re making the world a better place--one kind act at a time!

When I got home from school, I noticed my mom was very tired from a long day at work, and she was already cooking dinner for my family, when I asked her why she seemed so tired, she told me about how her 8th graders were giving her a hard time at school.

When she said this, I felt bad and wanted to do something to lighten her work load a bit. So I started to empty the dishwasher,it took a while, and I realized it would be quite tough to do this everyday.

When my mom saw what I was doing, she seemed very happy. I am proud of what I did because it made another person smile, and feel good. I also learned that a teacher's job doesn't end when the school time ends, so they have to work even more, and later have to take care of their families, so they work A LOT!

So being Good to Mr.Steltman is important.

I think it means if you think you had a bad day put yourself in somebody else shoes like a kid who struggles to live think about that we think we had a bad day what about the kid.

My parents always cooks me dinner, clean the house, and do all kinds of chores for my sister and I. My parents are tired after doing all of that stuff for my sister and I. I am happy about what my parents do for me.

I started to help by cleaning up the kitchen and helping around like, cleaning kitchen supplies, vacuuming and ect. My mom thanked me for helping her and that she could finally relax. My dad told me that I helped out a lot and now I am happy that my parents can relax and that they could just enjoy their time rather than doing chores around the house.

It is nice to see someone happy and they could just relax. My parents do everything for me but sometimes I should just do it myself make them happy and just do whatever it takes to make them smile!

My Mom is awesome she cooks for me and my family,
and when I am not home she makes my bed and cleans my room.
My dad also is really helpful with my homework as well , But at the end of the day they seem to be really tired and after a couple days of seeing them like that I decided to help.

Now I started to set the table before Dinner and clean up the table after Dinner. I also help around the house when needed like cleaning my room, and organizing stuff like the coffee table.
I am very helpful in my family, sometimes my mom even calls me a Angel which I love. My dad also loves when I clean his room and when I sometimes wash the dishes ( Which is his job, Not to be mean, But) Yeah.

When I made a difference with my family, I helped my dad clean out my garage. It was a big mess! It would be a 2 day job. I saw him struggling and thought he could use some help. It lasted us until dinner but we got it done faster than it would have been.

Something I learnt from this is it takes more than one person to get a big job done in less than 2 days.

My mom is really hard working and amazing she is also a stay at home mom and has to do all the cleaning in the house. One day when I came back from school I saw how tired my mom was,She was sitting on the couch taking a quick break from cleaning the house and she still had to clean the upper level of the house and I felt bad for her because she still had to make dinner. So after I saw how upset and stressed she was I decided to let her rest and clean the top half myself.

Since then I started cleaning my room and my grandma's room so that my mom doesn't need to worry about it.Also my sister joined and we take turn's to unload and load the dishes each night. My mom thanked me and told me that I help her a lot and now she can have some rest instead of worrying about the house.I also cook something quick on Saturday's so that she doesn't need to worry about feeding us.

Sometimes you forget that your parents are more than just telling you to clean your room they help you get food and buy you clothes they help you become a better person each day and they help you achieve a lot of stuff in life. It's really nice to see people happy and not sad and stressed also they would appreciate your work. If I was in that situation I would want somebody to help me like that too.My message is thatYou should help people no matter what even if you have no clue who they are.

"Wake up!", my Mom said. Starteld, I woke up. I got dressed and got out of my room to pack the lunches. Then, Aidan (my brother) asked to use my horse for a school project and I said yes. Later, at lunch time, he returned it. I said, "Thank you", and he left.

I also take out the garbage to help my parents. I sometimes help my dad and/or mom make dinner. I also sometimes help with the laundry.

So my family has this thing called family contributions and its where we all do something helpful so that our parents don't do everything.

Christmas is coming, my dad was working on the Christmas decoration.
My dad cut some real pine branches and I saw he can't hold those much branches, so I was helping him. We decorated the post in front of the door. We also put fake cranberrys and pinecones in the post. It looks beautiful! My dad is happy that I can help him, he said with my help he could finish the work faster. What I know from this is to help people can make them feel happy. To help people is important.

At 3:20PM i get home from school and home alone and very calm and quiet in the house. Then at 4:10PM I have to go pick up my little brother from the bus which usually starts to get annoying because when I get home with my little brother will Boss me around to go get his IPad and his charger, make him food and he is too scared to watch tv on his own so I have to bring my homework down stairs and sit beside him in front of the tv which is hard for me to concentrate. When my mom arrives at 5:30PM I have to help her clean the house and sometimes she goes shopping for food so when she comes back at 6:00PM I have to help her bring in the food inside the house while my mom is changing and my brother is playing on his iPad. In Friday's I have to take the garbage out and to iron the cloths.

When I see a homeless person and I have food or money, I would give the food or money to him/her. Or if I didn't use plastic water bottles, I would make a difference to not make water dirty and deadly.

The bell rang and we headed in for recess my feet pounding on the ground as I was walking back to the school door. When I was walking in I stopped my feet turned around pretty quick and I held the door for someone or some people. I'm really not that sure and I think the door almost hit them. So I guess I saved them from that and then I was walking back to my the class feeling good about myself. That was I nice thing I did.

On Tuesday, I have dance class. I go to dance with Sydney and we car pool. Her mom was driving and said that after dance we can go to Tim Horton's and get a donut. So we went in line and once the people in front of us left I noticed they left their keys there. They left and once they were about to leave the store I ran to them and said " Are these your keys?" and she said " Thanks, I wouldn't have gotten far without those!"

I felt really good that I did that and I could tell she was happy too! She would of had to walk all the way out to the parking lot and walk back in, and someone else could of stole them. It's always nice to help someone out!

It was a Monday afternoon and I was walking back to class with Sydney. We had just gotten construction paper. We were talking when I noticed that the man who was bring all the pizza for our school struggling to open the door. I thought I should help him. So I went to the door and held to open for him while he brought in the pizza. "Thank you for holding the door". The man said.

At that moment I felt really good. What I realized is that even just doing little things can make a person feel good.

Yesterday at about 6:00 I saw my mom cleaning the whole house by her own and I felt really bad because I wasn't helping her. so today I thought I would clean the whole house while my mom was at work so I could surprise her when she comes back. After about 2 and a half hours I was done! I was really tired But I wanted to do more, even though I was really tired! so I decided to also make my whole family dinner.

I felt really happy that I was able to clean the whole house by myself. I also felt like others where really proud of me so it made me feel even beter

A few weeks ago my Grampa got sick, and was in the hospital for 7 days. He is out of the hospital now but he can't do a lot. We don't get to see them very often but this weekend he was supposed to go to my hockey tournament but he can't come now. My Grampa was already sick but now he had to miss his only granddaughter play hockey. So what I decided to do was send him a get better letter over email. In the email I told him how much I wished that he could come and that we will keep him updated. When I sent the email I felt very good that I made him feel better for missing it.

I was searching for a meaningful nice deed when I stumbled upon a catalog in the mail called Gifts Of Hope. I opened the catalog and saw all these neat things to donate to family's in need like animals that help the family's in many ways and also other cool supplies . After flipping threw the whole catalog. I felt passionate on donating money to buy a sheep which would provide a family over seas milk, cheese and wool. once I found the idea I went to my mom and came up with an action plan to pay off the donation by doing extra chores, my mom seemed thrilled about that Idea because I wasn't Just helping a family over seas but I was helping my own family as well. After I donated the sheep I made a chore chart to complete the plan. by doing this deed I felt so good I want to now make this an annual tradition.

From this experience I learnt that 1 small thing can make a big diffrense

My uncle Steve lives in France and I don't get to see him a lot and it bums me out.I wish he could be at my soccer games but he can't because France is so far away. But when he does visit we have a blast. The last time he came was in August and we went up to my cottage and he taught me so much about him my dad and my grand dad and I miss him. I was really concerned about the recent attack on France from Isis and I was really scared that he might have gotten hurt. So I sent him an email to ask if he was OK and to let him know I was scared for him looked forward to seeing him soon. He said he hopes to come for a visit in January which is great.

I woke up early one morning and saw my mom making breakfast and washing the dishes. I asked her if she wanted any help and she said sure. I started washing the dishes and when I finished she said "Thank You for helping." The next morning I woke up even earlier and couldn't go back to sleep. So I went downstairs and started washing the dishes.

I felt good that I helped my family with something so that they could have some time off.

I was with my family for shopping purposes in downtown Oakville after a WHILE of shopping we where are starving so we decided to stop the shopping which felt like 72 hours by the time we stopped and we where only half way done. So we started to look for some place to eat we decided on a Harvey's right around the corner and on the way in we saw a homeless man He looked Miserable and my hole family felt so bad for him.

My family and I couldn't stop thinking about that guy on the corner. We decided that we needed to help him I suggested that we all give him Money$ but my mom said that you never know what people like that will dl with the money that you give them. My mom said that we should get him a fulling hamburger. So me and my family went up and bought the biggest burger there was their.

We all walked out ready to give the sad man the food. When we gave him the food he was bursting with cheer and said "thank you really appreciate it" when we gave him the food he turned from miserable to happy in a blink of an eye.

walking away from him I had the best felling inside me like I a just won the lottery I felt soooooooo good and I'm sure so did he.

So yesterday I saw my mom making dinner and she was tired so I made the table and when she was done cooking the dinner I put the dinner on the plate then I placed on the table. After We where done eating our dinner I put all of the plates in the dish washer and then turned on the dish washer so it would wash the plates when my mom and dad where on the coach watching football.
