This video shows another amazing example of storytelling; using song.  While you watch this song, I want to you to think of our Freytag Pyramid.  Listen to the story that Gordon Lightfoot tells us.  What happens in this story?  Your job is to write down what you think the author's message is for this story and to write if you think the author did a good job of telling the story.  Why or why not?  Jot that in the comments below.

I think the message was to make a tribute to the boat and crew members that died in it. I think the author did a good job because he described what happened in detail

I don't really think there is an authors message but I think the author was trying to give us information about the boat and the crew members. The author did an amazing job because it hooked me just by hearing the song which is now stuck in my head but also the heart full words. I think that this is meant for an emotional person like me.

I think the message was to create a different type of storytelling with song. In this one, you can't ignore the words because of how clear the singing voice is saying it. The story, while a bit boring, tells the tales of the boat and the crew. I can see why people would like this, but to me, it isn't my cup of tea.

In this song/story a boat had crashed and this story/song was all about telling you about it.
The author's message was probably to try to make us remember or learn about what happened.
He did a good job because he sung the story in creative/descriptive ways

In this story a boat named Edmund Fitzgerald sank by the rough waves carrying 26 000 tons of iron ore.

The authors message was not as clear because the singing did not mix with the topic because he is singing about a boat that sank and people died .

What a tragedy ( for the boat )

the boat was carrying 26 000 tons of iron ore not the waves
( to make that clear )

the Edmund Fitzgerald is about a boat that sank in November 10th 1975. and Gordon Light foot did a good job at telling the story.
ps: we are seeing Gordon light foot this Thursday!

This song explains what is the Edmund Fitzgerald and what happened to it. I think the author did do a good job because he fully described what happened on the deck of the ship with detail. The author made it fun for us because of the song but he also taught us.

It's about a ship carrying cargo and 29 crew that sank in lake Superior. Gordon Lightfoot does a stupendous job telling the story. He starts with the setting on the lake, and builds to the climax when the ship sank due to the bad weather. Then he explains how the crew could not be rescued, and the story concludes with the family of the crew men remembering their dead love ones.

What happened was that there was about that was called the Edmund Fitzgerald and it was going north with more that the ship could carry. Just one night after a terrible storm hit with hail and hurricanes. The water gushed in and they were most likely capsized.

The way he told the story is that he used the same melody so we just listened to the lyrics even if you weren't looking at them.

Sorry about my terrible grammar in my first entry here is a better version. What happened was that there was that was a ship called the Edmund Fitzgerald and it was going north with more that the ship could carry. Just one night after a terrible storm hit with hail and hurricanes. The water gushed in and they were most likely capsized and everyone on board died.

The way he told the story was that he used the same melody so we just listened to the lyrics even if you weren't looking at them you could tell what the story was about.

The story is about a boat and how it sank.I think the author did a good job writing the story because he described it well and made it interesting so you would want to know more and he used very interesting sentences.I think the authors message is that the boat might have crashed but it's spirit still lives in the waters. My favorite part is where the man said it was nice knowing y'all because he knew the sailors were gonna die.........creepy, if I was the sailor who the man is talking to

I think the message to this amazing video, is to not forget the people who died on the boat, they will be remembered by their loved ones and friends. The author did a good job telling this story because he told us the important details on this boat wreck. We could be here all day if he told us every little detail. He also used interesting facts.

This song is about a ship that had a lot of stuff on it and a storm came and was basically torturing the ship untill it sank. I think the storyline in the song is very good but the wording is kind of hard to understand what went on before the wreck. But the tune is catchy

this is a story of the Edmund Fitzgerald and how it sank.
I don't really think that the story was emotional because I felt the exact same emotion on the exact same scale the whole time therefore, I don't think that it fits into a Freytag's pyramid.
I think the message in this story is to be prepared for the unexpected so that you can have an easier time when the unexpected comes.

The message of the song is to tell of the tragedy of the ship the Edmund Fitzgerald. I like how the author imagines he was there and how the crew had to skip breakfast to try and save the boat. But all people remember are the names of the 29 who died because they never found the bodies or the boat. It is probably at the bottom of the lake. The author says that people think if the boat had less cargo and left earlier it would not have gone down in the November gale. A gale is a storm. Sometimes the author uses language that is hard to understand, I don't like that. And the melody is sad which is suitable for a sad story -- but it makes me sad that those people died. I think the author's message is just to remember the people who died and to tell us to leave before trouble hits.

In this video it explains how the waves rumbled over the deck in a very good way that makes you feel like your actually on the boat. It also lets you know what it was like on the boat and how the passengers felt. It also told you how it sunk with 26,000 tons of iron ore. The waves on the lake were 35 feet tall. The waves were formed by the November west wind. Its also a sad story becuase they say "all that remains is the faces and names of the wives and the sons and the daughters." This is sad because all the familly had their fathers gone.

I think the authors message was pretty hard to see but I realized. Be prepared for the unexpected. What this means is that they left before the gales would come in but unexpectedly the gales came in early.
R.I.P Everyone on board.

The author did a great job acknowledging what happened on the Edmund Fitzgerald and what is was. The music made the video very powerful and it was a great song for those crew members that died on the boat.

I think that the authors message was...
"Even though you may be experienced, some things are out of your control."
I think that he did a good job of telling the story because he was detailed about what happened that day and very descriptive about when it happened.
