Thankful For Our Learning!

On Wednesday, we had an amazing opportunity to visit Think Research Corporation in Toronto and learn about computer science, computational thinking, as well as get onto computers with their developers and code our own rock, paper, scissors games!  For your blog post this week I want you to write a paragraph or few paragraphs to the developer that you worked with.  Within these paragraphs, I want you to find a way to thank them for their time, their patience and their expertise but also to write to them about what you learned and what you’ve taken away from the time you spent with them.  Tell them how you plan on using the knowledge they shared with you and your group. This is your chance to brag about everything you did over the day, say thank you, and share your learning!

Dear Ahmed, Thank you for using your time with us instead of doing your project that you are working on. Thank you for listening to all of our ideas because you were very patient to listen to all of our ideas. Thank you for your expertise on code pen. It will really help us to make a game one day.

I learned code pen and there were many different coding things in there like HTML, CS, Javascript. We also learned that how to put an image into our Rock, Paper, Scissors game. It was fun to code it when we kind of did a rough sketch of what the game looked like and put it into coding. I’ve taken away from this experience that anyone can code and that there is so many different types of coding websites that I would never have thought of. The history of computer programming is cool like there used to be giant boxes that could calculate math problems and now today we have small computers that have a screen.

I’m going to use this knowledge of what I learned to make my own game. Also to try to incorporate all this coding knowledge to maybe try to work at Think Research one day.

Thank you Ahmed you were one of the best teachers of coding.
Yours Cat On Mars truly,
Evan
P.S. Thank you for making Cat on Mars. I LOVE the game. My high score is 260!
P.P.S. The cat is back!

Dear Alex,

I want to thank you what you've taught me and my group how to do beginners coding on JavaScript. I learned how complicated how this could be so I would not feel confident in my future life to waste my time, but I might try coding to learn as I grow threw the Years of School, maybe one day I can be like you. Thank you for teaching me why you have shown me. The Random Person: Connor

It might seem complicated, but the hardest part of coding isn't complexity it's planning and discipline. You guys all have the potential to become great coders!

They have been amazing with teaching us about coding, but most of all, thanks to Cobi for guiding us through the ups and downs of coding and being so patient, did I say patient, I should say patient! I've learned so much about HTML, CSS and JS. Your amazing building left me speechless... (See!) I thank everyone for being so good at programming because otherwise where would I learn all this stuff!One more thing");

Sorry, needed to get that out of the way.
Thank you for Bringing us to your office and teaching us so well!

Dear Sharon,
Thank you for spending your time with us, we had lots of fun together. I learned lots of new things you could code and I loved the game that we made. My favorite part was when we made the rainbow background, it took us a lot of time to do it and it looks wonderful. We listened to each other's ideas and created a fun game! So thank you for all.

Dear Sharon,

Thank you for teaching us coding. Let me be more specific. Thank you for teaching me 3 of the coding languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript.) Thank you for teaching me what they are used for (HTML = what the computer shows. CSS = fonts, background, color etc. JavaScript = "the brain," it does all the thinking.) Thank you for being patient and kind (that is a BIG thing.) Thank you for repeating the things again and again when we forgot how to do something. Thank you for making a template and taking care of the hard stuff. Thank you for helping us get a rainbow background and letting us customize it so it's our own. Those are only one of the few things. Thank you

Dear, Sharon,

Last Wednesday, we had an amazing opportunity to visit Think Research Corporation and learned about computer science. Thanks for your time, patience and expertise teaching us coding. We had a lot of fun. I learned 3 coding languages which are HTML, CSS, JavaScript. We developed an interesting game using these technologies. What is an wonderful day. When I was back home and show the game to my parents, I was so proud.

Thank you,

To:Alex.

Thank you for the work you put into teaching us how to computer program. I could see the struggle you were able to hide whenever nobody was able to answer your questions. It put a lot of time and effort to do that, I could imagine. I feel that we have learned a lot of stuff to our advantage, like changing the words on sites. The other day when we were playing the game show knowledge hook, (The one I had NO idea about), it didn't let us type in our answer. So my partner and I decided to use the computer program you taught us to help us type in our answer. It was so fun to come down to Toronto last year to visit Think research, and I hope to come again one day, Permanently. Thank you for your work, time and thoughts to help us out.

You guys are very welcome, you were good students!

There are plenty of intricate games you could make, one of the very first ones I learned to make was Pac-man!

Dear Ben,

Thank you so much for working with Kate, Megan, Felicity and I, we all had an amazing time and so much fun making the rock paper scissors game that we called water fire ice. It was so fun, code-pen is such a cool tool to use when it comes to coding! I would not be able to use code pen and make awesome games if you didn't teach me! Now that you taught me I know the difference between HTML, CS and JavaScript. Going to Think Research was definitely the best school trip I've ever been on, it was awesome! THANK YOU THINK RESEARCH!

Dear Ben,

Thank you for being a awesome teacher. I learned so many things from you. I learned the differences between Java script, CSS, and HTML. And I learned how to use them. PLUS I got to learn how to make a game that we later found out was going to be called "Attack Of The Elements". You taught me many different things and I learned how to write the different commands. This was diffidently the best field trip I have had in a VERY long time. If I could chose one field trip to goon it would be to go back to think research. I hope you have a great day.

Dear Ahmed and Think Research,
Thanks for the great time. I have learned a lot about HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Thank-you for your time, and I will put all of my learning to use, during our periods of coding. I will always recall this as the best field trip, ever. I hope I could some other time visit.
