Mr. Steltman - Redirecting ...

Poetry: Art & Literature Combined!

11/9/2016

Picture
This past week in class we looked at poetry and we wrote poems to commemorate Remembrance Day.  Poetry is a powerful writing tool, an amazing art form and a wonderful way to communicate meaning. Poems can take many forms and they cross many genres.  This week we also finished PAX, which was an incredible story about friendship, family, and war.  For your blog post this week, I’d like you to write a poem that conveys some feeling, some meaning, some idea from PAX.  You can write your poem in a google doc and paste the link in the comments below and if you do it this way, you can use font, colour, images, and more to make your poem come alive.  If you post your poem to your website, post the link to that and we’ll read it there Friday.  Let’s celebrate the amazing story we just finished.

Here in peace

Because up above in Flanders peak

The soldiers have fought for weeks

They sacrificed their lives to give the right for us to live

I wear the red poppies to show my love and care

The red stand for you repaying us with love

So I will show the same

A day with light, A day with sight

There was a day, With a big fight

On a piece of land, Where no man stands

There was sounds of gun shots , And ground muddy

There are graves, On that field these days

Where poppies grow, Others fell low

Took fight, I used to be in sight

I am still here

We risked our lives, for your lives

Remember us, that fought in that fuss

Remember what they did
By: Felicity D. Class 6-2

They have seen it all,
the have done it all,
For some might say,
They have given us freedom of what we chose,
we can’t go back when you lost what you lose,
Now I am here to tell their story,
What have they done? I ask you,
they have got everything that we can do today,
You may not believe when you do not care,
what might happen they have lost lives,
and worst of all,
lost their family,
are the ones who seeked for us,
used what they could,
tried their best,
did their best,
changed lives,
made us okay,
gave the kids with sickness cure,
They did it all,
for us we still need to figure out us,
Remember what they did.

Think about it, Right now you don't care, Think again, Think as if you were in the soldier shoes that saved our lives, All you been through in our lives is a soldiers one day, Our lives are not as much work compared to a soldier but the only thing that is A lot is your life, They risk there life to not risk yours.

I separate people from love ones

I bring many deaths

I am what causes people to pick up a gun and a uniform

I can make pets starve

Peace stops me

Who am I?

I am war

Somwhere i know where you are.

Thinking about you alone everyday makes me tear

I know you will come for me when your ready

But for now i will leave that to you.

I hope i will see you running at me one day.

If not today

Friendship is what describes Peter and Pax

They had 5 years together and now it's gone

"I'll leave the front porch open" is what Peter

Meaning that the friendship will still be there

All we Pax needs to know is that Peter is there for him

Just like Vola is the for Peter

Never Gave Up

Peter was looking for Pax

Whatever came in his way, didn't stop him.

He went through rough times, high and lows.

Some days, he felt he wouldn't be able to follow his tracks

Some days felt so dim

But their strong connection kept him from going slow.

Gun shots fire

Soldiers scream

Men fall to the ground

Put in caskets buried in the ground in Flanders field

Where the poppies grow where the soldiers lay

People visit us wearing poppy's.

A foggy war,

with not last but, least sunbeam only observed.

Gun fires, shooting from sides.

Gun fires, startled people and, indicated noise.

Bullets gain up velocity,

drilled through their corpses.

Dark chocolate mud,

Landscaped whole Flanders field.

Popes, eventually popped out.

Flanders was full of popes.

Soldiers corpses were buried.

Risks have taken by sacrifice.

Wishes made upon to wishes.

Now, our destiny has been continued.

This was the poem of war. One of my last sentences is that, war can be truthful, love, and meaningful. Pax is especially related to war as Mr. Steltman already mentioned. My hope is that to get onto our life's with light hearts.
