Our Class Precepts

This quote, from Mr. Browne, in our class novel, Wonder, really struck me when I read it.  I've been going over it in my head and the idea of precepts that guide your life seem very powerful.  Sometimes our lives are going so fast that we barely notice how we're living.  This week, I want you to take some time to think about what precepts you follow in your day-to-day life.  After you have written your precept, write a few sentences that describe why you think this is so important to your life.  These should be your own words (see my example below).  This will directly relate to our biographies and our "what will your verse be" assignments.
As an example,
I think that the precept "Be honest, be true, to yourself and others too" is a precept that helps me shape the direction of my life.  I value honesty from family, friends, colleagues and students, and it's very important to me that I offer this in all aspects of my daily life.  I think that being true to yourself, who you are, is extremely important and will help you succeed.
Please write your precepts and comments below.  Feel free to read and respond to other peoples precepts as well!

Failing is the first step to success.

It means if you fail than it will make you want to succeed even more and you get you really motivated and you will try harder each time you fail at what you are doing.

For example; If you are trying to run 100 meters in 13 seconds but you could only do it in 17 seconds it will motivate you to try harder next time.

I think this is a good precept to follow in the classroom because, for example; someone could not be contributing to a group project, you could ask them kindly to participate in the project. They would react more positively instead of speaking to them in a demanding voice. Such as the quote, 'treat others the way you want to be treated.' The precept is basically the same thing except with more dept to it.

My precept is...
To always believe in yourself and to never give up, even if you have to keep trying when you fail until you succeed.

This is my precept 'Don't judge those who try and fail, only judge those who fail to try'. I think that this precept has a large impact on my life and it has taught me and has stopped me from doing the wrong things. It remind me to think twice before judging someone who has tried and failed and told me to encourage them to try again.

My precept is that 'If no one ever failed then our brains would never evolve'.

This means that if no one failed then some of the life changing things we have wouldn't exist.
The microwave oven, potato chips, fireworks, corn flakes, silly putty, post-it-notes, penicillin, chocolate-chip cookies, and the x-ray were all created by accident.

So if the thing that you are doing doesn't work, you may have created something better.

My precept is..... " No matter how fasionable you are the best thing to wear is a smile!" This means it doesnt matter how you are feeling you need to look happy on the out side so you make other people happy. The reason I chose this as my precept is because some times I am feeling good on the inside but on the outside I look like I want to kill someone. So that is my precept!

My precept is to take my pill everyday. It is a good precept because if I don't take my pill I don't behave that well and I feel frustrated easily. I chose this precept because before I started to take my pill everyday I used to be angry all the time and run away.

Being kind is the way to go. Like helping others so you can feel good about yourself. So be kind to other and to yourself. Like for an example if someone got hurt you should help out. There is book that reminds me of this called "How Full Is Your Bucket?"

My precept is "I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." I like this quote/precept because it is saying DON'T GIVE UP and that is what I tend to do. I try to follow this precept and try to always follow it no matter what I do.

My precept is that "practice is always the key to success".
Because if you don't practice something like to me hockey your never going to be successful, also like in school if you want to get better at math but you never practice you never gonna have success.

A precept that I follow is "Practice Makes Permanent". All of my coaches at RVDL have said and taught me this. It is a great precept for sports because if you want to make a REP team it's not always about experience it's about practice. When I first started basketball I could not do a layup and finally after I practiced and practiced I finally got it and now that I have my layup I will never forget it

My precept is to help others when they seem puzzled because, it will make a good impact on the world, even if you do just 1 thing.

The precept that I follow is "Practice Makes Perfect". I apply this precept everyday of my life because I want to become better. It helps me in sports and in my education, like I said "Practice Makes Perfect".

One precept I follow is: Sharing is caring. What it means is that you should share with friends and family to strengthen your bonds.

I really like this quote that I found off the internet, it has been a great guide to success to me to never give up. (I haven't failed, I just found 10,000 ways that won't work) What it means is to, never give up. Your not wrong you just found something else that doesn't work, which is one step further to success. Trial & Error. Eventually you'll get to the goal, success.
