Mistakes ... but I hate being wrong!

This week, we looked at our learning skills and took some time to be very reflective of our own learning so far this semester. For this week I want you to continue to be reflective about your learning, and your personality and to think about failure and making mistakes. Making mistakes feels bad, failure isn’t fun, it never feels good, and sometimes it can be downright embarrassing! The crazy thing about it though, is that it’s through mistakes and failure that we experience large amounts of growth; as learners, and as people. In your blog post this week, I want you to think back on this past month, week, year, etc. and come up with a failure or mistake that still sticks with you as well as what you learned from that experience. Write down what happened, why you feel that you failed or what the mistake was and what you learned from this failure.
My example for this week:
One mistake that still stands out clearly in my mind happened when I was Mr. Else’s student teacher. I had a class of grade six students and I was teaching them about finding the volume of a triangular prism. This was a very important lesson because II had the vice principal in the class watching and I TAUGHT IT TO THEM WRONG! I got confused with the numbers and the vice-principal had to come up and help me with the lesson. After this lesson, I chose to go down to her office to apologize for not being prepared enough and for making a mistake. She helped me understand the math concept more deeply and helped me to realize that in teaching, there are many mistakes. It turns out it’s what you do once you’ve made the mistake that matters. Use your mistakes, reflect on them and grow as a person! Forgive yourself, learn, and move on!

My mistake was when I was playing soccer I got the ball ready to sore with a open net. I was vary nervous because I could have got us an extra point just incase. Anyway I was just about to score untill I MIST! I felt bad, ashamed, and stupid. Just because I mist it cased my! team to lose. But I knew it was ok because people make mistakes and I knew we were going to win the next game. :)

In the past, I would always make mistakes when doing my homework. Especially math questions that made me feel dreadful and sad. I was feeling bad about my work, but then my dad told me that everybody needs a little help and practice. So, I began to focus on understanding and got better with my work. I still make mistakes, but that is what part of learning is, right? :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

a mistake I made was (and I still do sometimes) is not asking questions when I'm confused about something and this goes for everything not just school but for example I got embarrassed that I was the only one asking a question and I didn't want to humiliate myself so I didn't ask the question about the work we were doing that I was confused about and ended up getting it wrong because I didn't ask.

My embarrassing moment was a few weeks ago during coding. This is my first year ever coding and I felt like I was the only one who did not understand it. So instead of asking for help I just stayed quiet for a while waiting for the period to end. The next time we coded I realized I should raise my hand when I do not understand something, so I did.

The mistake that I made was in baseball. I was playing 3rd base and I got a ground ball to me but when I caught it I forgot to tag the runner that was running to 3rd and I just passed the ball to 2nd base. From that I learned to make sure where the play is before the ball comes to me and to be more aware.

I made a mistake when I passed the puck instead of firing it down the ice in a penalty kill. I realized that I should have fired the puck so that they would have to make it all the way down the ice. Now I know to fire it down the ice.

On last week's home work with the math cross word puzzle, I was struggling that I couldn't find the answer so I asked my dad to help but he couldn't find the answer so my dad tried using a spreadsheet but it still wouldn't work, and after what felt like an hour I saw that I got the 56 in the first question mixed up with the 52 in the second one. I felt so embarrassed.

I made a mistake while playing hockey. I should have passed to the player who was open but I passed to the player who was covered and they had an advantage to score and they did. I felt sad and then the score was 7-2 them. I realized that I should have passed to the open player. On the next game I did pass to the open player and we got a shot on net

I mess up a lot. Probably too much, but we're not going to get into that. One of the mistakes that I learned from is being more aware of my surroundings (most especially when they're hot). While my dad and I made pizza I took the pizza out of the oven, but then touch the pan and burned my finger, then put the hot metal on plastic. plastic melts when hot metal is placed on it! I learned that its okay to make mistakes because everyone makes them, but there can be not-so-good consequences. RIP, Finger.

I made a mistake in soccer. I was playing soccer and there was a wide open net. I was nervous and then I kicked the ball in the wrong direction. I was sad and embarrassed.

One of my mistakes I made was not double tying my tap shoes because once when i was dancing on stage in front of 100's of people and my tap shoe came off. It was fine after it came off because I just kept dancing. The judges gave us a special award because I acted like it didn't happen and i just kept dancing. Mistakes are not the best some times but some are good because you learn from them. I learned from mine because now I double knot my tap shoes.

One mistake that I’ve made in my life was cutting my sisters hair... ya I literally cut her bangs off... So one day when I know about six years old and my sister was about three I was playing hairdresser in my room, A few moments later my sister walked in asking if she could play with me so I said yes. My sister sat down in a small chair that I had beside my bed in my room, and then I started to cut off her bangs... When I finished my not so beautiful masterpiece we both went to sleep. The next morning was Sunday and we had Church, when we woke up my mom brushed my hair and I got ready for church and then my mom started to brush my sister’s hair.... and then that’s when my mom noticed. The lesson I learned from that mistake was to not cut people’s hair... and I also learned to not use scissors without parent supervision! I can always learn from my mistakes!

A mistake that I have made quite a few times is raising my hand to wander a question but getting it wrong. Making that mistake makes me feel embarrassed and sad :( because I am saying it infant of the whole class. But I have learned since then that making mistakes is good because you learn from them.

One time I was with a kid and we were talking and talking then it came to something of what we should do for a project . And my idea was good but his was too but I said that our teacher said that we could't do that so I was arguing with them then he ask the teacher and I was wrong it made me feel very embarrassed. A mother thing is that I cut my hair in the summer because I was bored I tell people that I had something stuck in it because it looks so bad I tried to fix it but made it worse I will show you what it looks like I hate it I have learned my lesson big time

I made one of my most painful mistakes in grade 2 ya pretty young but me and my neighbours were playing ball hockey every thing was going well. Then i got distracted and my friend was running with the ball and then I got body checked in to the curb and my wrist twisted so bad then 10 min later it got yellow and purple(broke my hand) so know i always be carful and be aware of my surrounding:):):):):):) THE END

It was grade 2 when I was at my grandparents farm, my cousin was driving it and turned a sharp corner where I was at the edge and fell on the gravel. I had a huge scratch and it start bleeding hard. After it was cleaned up my cousin said I could try steering, what a mistake!!! I was doing a good job when my grandparents clothes line came in few and I was going to slow that the line caught on to the top of the cart and it all came down. I was so embarrassed and sorry. From this day on I learned from my mistake and I will never drive the golf cart ever again!

A mistake I made in grade four was faking sick. If I didn't feel like going to school, I would just fake sick, and I felt guilty for doing it, but when I realised, it was honestly no better then being at school, because the days I did go, I had so many pieces of paper and homework to do, and I felt guilty for not doing the work. So after quite a few months of making that mistake, I ended up telling my mom, and apologising, and I haven't faked sick since! I learned from my mistake, and now I know not to do it!

The mistake I made was in hockey and I got really embarrassed because my coach was doing a drill and he asked me to be the guy that passed to him and I MISSED THE PASS! I went over after that to say sorry and he said mistakes happen just DON'T DO IT AGAIN!
