Mr. Steltman - Redirecting ...

If you need something, SAY something!

11/19/2020

Watch the following video from a professional rugby player. I love how the creators of this video were able to use the scroll bar at the bottom to showcase the message of the video. This is often how it goes in our lives too, we’re unable to say what we’re really feeling, unable to share our fears or stresses. This has been a strange year, with Covid, on top of all the normal challenges and stresses that are placed up on your shoulders in grade six. This week especially, as it’s anti-bullying week, I want you to know that I’m listening, that I’m trying to read between the lines of what you’re saying and that if you need to talk, I’m here. If you’re feeling down, worried, stressed, or anything else, know that you can reach out. I want the absolute best for each and every one of you. This has been a hard week for me, as I hate being out of the classroom when you’re all there, so please know that I’m thinking about you and hope that you’re trying your best, even while I’m away. Have a great rest of your week and hopefully I can see you tomorrow.
For your blog post this week, I want you to imagine a student in grade six who is struggling with anxiety, stress, or bullying and write them a letter that you think could help them get through the tough times.

Dear Student,

Hey, I know things have been hard for you whether you've been struggling with anxiety or bullying whatever is going on in your life will get better, I know you probably hear that a lot and it's very basic of me to say considering it's just everyone's go to thing to say when they know someone is hurting, but I truly mean it, whatever is going on WILL get better and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, you are special to so many people, and you may not be able to express what you're feeling but I know that you feel down sometimes but there are many places you can go to for help, such ashttps://www.crisisservicescanada.ca/en/ andhttps://kidshelpphone.ca/

Dear student,
I heard that you have been experiencing some difficulties with some kids in your neighborhood I understand that they were bulling you for whatever their reasons were. I can only imagine how this hurts and how it makes u anxious and you are probably in a rough spot. I can only give you one word of advise. Step up for yourself!
If someone is bulling you again and again, calling you names, making you feel bad, stand in front of them and say: THAT'S ENOUGH!!
if that doesn't work, you should immediately tell an a adult or a teacher what you have been going through and ask for some some help with the bully and also ask for an advice so you get better overall.
Standing up for yourself is the strongest form of self defense.

Dear student,

Ive heard that you are under the influence of bullying but just know that the bully could be having difficulties in his or life because sometimes the one who bullies you could actually be jealous of you. Here are some ways to help
1. You can stand up to the bully and say THAT'S ENOUGH!! or you can say STOP!!
2. Tell a trustable adult or teacher about whats happening they may give you some tips to, but it will also feel good to tell someone because if you keep it to yourself nothing may happen about the situation
Well I hope that those two things helped and don't become a bully because that is just MEAN:(

Sincerely a person (:

Dear Grade 6 Student,

My name is Nicolas and if you are having a bad day or week put your head down and think positively. This will help you forget about the bad things and think about the good things in your life like the weekend, playing with your friends and anything else that makes you happy. Also, if you are having a tough time I am always here to talk to you to help you feel better. I’ve had tough times before and it always helps me when I fidget and not worry about anything else around me. Maybe you could try this too.

So try my things to see if they help like they do for me. Don't worry things will get better soon, they always do.

Sincerely your friend,
Nic

Dear Student,

Hi,I've heard you have been getting bullied these last few months and I wanted to say don't let what they say about you get to you. Remember you are awesome and whatever these people are saying to you are wrong. I have a few strategies I really hope you well follow,
first remember you can always stand up to them. Say to STOP IT ,or THATS ENOUGH and feel confident when you say it. I also want you to tell an adult about what is happening. A teacher your parents any one you really trust. My third thing I really want you to do is if this is person is really making you feel bad remember you can always turn to kids help phone and talk to someone, they are always their to support you. I really hope you follow some of my advice and remember that you are great and don't let these bullies hurt you.
Sincerely, Eva

Dear Student
If it is true that you are being bullied you cant just deal with it, you have to put your hand right in their face and say THAT'S ENOUGH.
If this bully is still bullying you need to tell a TEACHER or contact Get Help Canada TODAY.

Dear Student:

Hey, I noticed you have been getting bullied quite a bit, I feel bad for you and I think it might help if I told you a few things that might just hopefully stop that. If someone called you a name you don’t like, first of all tell them to stop kindly, if that person does not stop maybe consider telling a teacher or parent. If someone is constantly hurting your feelings and bugging you, that’s called bullying, bullying is serious and can cause plenty of problems which is why you need to tell someone. If your being bullied, try telling them to stop or try walking away if you haven’t before done so. If that person does stop, great! If that person although does not stop you need to tell a teacher or parent/adult. The main message in this letter is to always tell someone if your being bullied. Hope This Helped:) -Adrie

Dear student,

Hello student, Someone told me that you have been getting bullied. I know it sucks, but if you are having a bad day go do something that makes you happy like going for a walk or play a fun game. if people are continuously hearting your feelings look at them in the face and say STOP NOW! Some thing that you can't put up with is if people take your cookies. If they do than you have to go up to them and scream THATS ENOUGH. make sure they heard you and that they stop (I guarantee you they will stop). I hope that my advice helped you.
sincerely, Elijah

Dear Student,
Having a hard time with anxiety, stress, and bulling? Well, here is a few strategy's that help with my brother who also has these things! First of all, dealing with anxiety can be really hard, it really depends on what kinda of anxiety you have, like social anxiety, when your really shy, well that's one of the types of anxiety that my brother has, and if you can't seem to find anyone to talk to, or become friends with, just try to ask your teacher or guardian about how to help, because if you don't have friends you can't have much help with bullying and stress, which is what I'll talk about now. Stress can be really annoying when your trying to focus on things, some things that help with stress are deep breaths, a stress relief toys, and talking about your feelings. Sometimes you could be really stressed because of how much feeling your holding in, so try and talk about it with someone. Now, bullying. If your struggling with standing up to bullies here's some tips. First, you could ignore them, because their probably just trying to get attention, and if they don't get the attention they might stop. If that doesn't help, tell them they are hurting your feelings, and that it isn't okay! Tell them to stop. If any of these things don't help, tell a teacher or guardian about it, and they can help you deal with it. :)

Dear Student,

If you're being bullied this is what you should do! First you should try to ignore the bully but if that does not work I would tell a friend, parent, or teacher. If they still keep bullying you then I would tell them to stop, then use all your confidence and say "Stop!' . I hope these few ideas helped.

Sincerely, Lorelai!

Dear student

If you are being bullied but its just teasing try to ignore it but then if somebody is actually bullying you tell them THAT IS ENOUGH. If that does not work tell an adult or teacher.

hi, you probably been bullied or teased in your life before you might even be bullied this week. well don't worry because here are some ways you can stop a bully from bullying you.

1:dont let it happen. some people when there being bullied they just let it happen and look down in sadness. what you should do is stop them from doing it like saying stop or telling the teacher, so remember, they will keep on making you sad if you let them give it to you.

2:tell some one about it. when your tell some one that your being bullied, it doesn't have to be a teacher. it could be you mom or dad. your sibling or a friend.

3:strong voice. If your telling the bully to stop, don't just mumble "stop it". if you want them to stop you have to sound threating because they would be just as scared if some one was bullying them (which could happen, a bully being bullied)

those where three tips to help you stand up to bully's. :P

If just ignore them but if they keep on bullying you then you say that's enough and walk away. If they still bully you then you your parents and teachers and then they might stop bullying you. If they do still bully you then you stand up to them.
