Fake News -- Could this be Real?!?

11/16/2017

Watch this video of a CRAZY jump that has over 6 million views on youtube. What I want to know is, do you think it’s real?  What proof do you have that this is true and accurate.  What do the creators of the video do to give this video validity and authenticity?
We live in an era where we hear the term “fake news” constantly.  But can we recognize when news is fake and when it’s real?  For your blog post this week, I want you to jot down how do you recognize when a story is fake, and can you post an example of “clickbait” (screenshot if you can) or describe how you know when something is clickbait.
I can give you a prompt to start your blog:
I think that this video "is" OR "is not" real.  The proof I have for my opinion is …
Write your paragraph that talks about both the video and how you separate fact from fiction when you’re on the internet!

I think that this video is fake. The proof is that the water at the is very shallow but he lands in it at a high speed and is perfectly fine. When he goes onto the ramp he doesn't slow down at all which clearly does not obey the laws of physics. The MythBusters also made an episode proving that it's fake. The creator probably made this video look real by sliding down to a certain point then editing him going down the whole slide then at the end he jumps into the kiddie pool. You know that something is fake if just use common sense. You know when something is clickbait if it looks edited or the title would get views and is very interesting to a lot of people.

I think that this video is fake. The reason for my opinion is that first of all he is supposed to land in a tiny kiddie pool. A KIDDIE POOL! like seriously, if we are just going to think right now the odds of him actually landing in that pool are pretty slim. He goes from a great height and lands in a tiny kiddie pool. Second of all about this kiddie pool is that the amount of water in this kiddie pool is not a lot. It's really shallow. With that much momentum and height and speed he is lucky he isn't severely injured. Fake or not.
Apart from the kiddie pool I have a problem with what he is wearing, no protection except a helmet which might help if you were going to land in a hand stand but he'd probably land on his knee or elbow instead. Severely injuring it in the process. AGAIN. I am fairly sure he is wearing something similar to a swim suit. Almost like he knew he would land in the kiddie pool and not break something. I don't know maybe there is some editing or some strings behind this but from the angle and the way there isn't anything so clear you couldn't really tell what's going on.
Must point out thought. He does a back flip in the air. Which, strings or not I must say. "Good job." because I doubt that was editing.
Also must point out that Yuan got way cooler after he wrote this because he watches mythbusters (Mythbusters is awesome) so Yuan you went from a 7 to a solid 12 (that's pretty good)

I don't understand why you need to say that I wrote something about the Mythbusters

I think it is fake.It dose not obey the laws of physics because he dosen't even slow down on the slant. Also you could hire a helecopter pilot and hook him up to some strings and cut them over the target. My final reason is he jumps into a shallow kiddie pool like WHO DOSE THAT ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I think it is fake. The proof is that when he lands in that tiny shallow pool at high speed, when he comes out he's perfectly fine! Also he is probably holding a rope and sliding down it very fast. The editor probably made him going very fast then made him go in the air. Of coerce its fake. Oh ya, how does he even land in the pool perfectly. That's my proof that it's fake. Clickbait is when you make someone getting tricked. For example like a Roblox Youtube video that says " free robux! Not clickbait!" But when you go on it it's just a scam that want's your information.

good copy

The video is about a man going down a hill on a slip and slide on to a big ramp into a tiny pool. I think that this video is fake. First of all, how did the man land in that small and shallow pool without sustaining any damage to himself? When he comes out of the pool he is perfectly fine and cheerful. Second, how did he even land in the pool accurately? Does he know physics enough to calculate the path of his movement? Third, when the man was in the air he continued accelerating instead of slowing down. That’s my proof that the video is fake!

Clickbait is a technique that attracts you to a website by its tittle. But when you go on the website it is not what you expected it to be. An example of clickbait is a Roblox YouTube video that says, “free robux (currency used in Roblox)! Not clickbait!” But when you go on it it’s just a scam that wants your information.

I have seen quite a few things that are fake on the internet and YouTube. I still remember this picture of a pilot with his window open taking a selfie of himself in the air. But actually he was taking that selfie on the ground. To separate fact from fiction on the internet I carefully examine the image for any things that make no sense.

I think this is fake because its really hard to go down a slip and slide AND LAND IN A TINY POOL!! Ok its not impossible but very very unlikely because slip ans slides don't sent you that fast in the air and hes also risking his life in a 1 and 100 chance that you can land in a pool and its also very shallow. They don't know the proper length of how far he goes. So they probelly photo graphed it. This is why i think it is fake.

I think this video is fake because one it's such a small pool. Second he goes down a hill on this thing and shoots right out of it and lands in a pool. It's a ramp that's made out of wood. with that speed the wood could stab him. It's probably a real person going down the slide and stop in the hole. And a fake person shoots out of a canon and lands In the pool. Then there's a person waiting in the pool. So when the fake person lands the real person pops out and starts celebrating. That's what I think. Also with that speed you could go right through the pool. Finally he is risking his life that he will land in the pool 1 and 1000 chance.

THIS IS FAKE. the presser of his nees hitting the water would make him feint or worse paralise!!!! I put it in slow motion and you could see him hold a rop like ziplin rop for a second. he would not go so high so it is fake!!!!!!!!!

FAKE -because you would never ever make that jump in a thousand years .if you ever had that much power and jumped into a little over ground pool you would DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Juliet

I think that this is very true. Why? I think that this is true because with the right directions and the right calculations, it is very possible. People can do many things. You are very capable of doing anything. You could...jump off a cliff, you would get hurt, but you still did it. As long as it makes you happy then go right ahead.

Second, the man who did this, probably practiced this a lot to get it right. That shows that he didn't give up. This shows that no matter how much he probably hurt him self or fell in the wrong spot, he wanted to do it. Think about it. It must of taken days for him to get it right.

Third, you can tell that this real because of the noise. You can obviously tell that the noise is real, no sound effects were in this. That shows that this is very real. Also, you could see his arms waving in the air. And at the end, when he hugged his friends he was happy that he accomplished his goal in life.

I think this video is FAKE because they did not show the bottom of the slide in the first place. Ciaran and I came across a video on youtube with this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n065KE00J0 It has proof that the guy wouldn't build enough speed in such short time and even less land in a small pool. Also when he was jumping the camera person completley zoomed out and you couldn't even see the guy. I mean it could've been any other person. I honestly think the water in that pool wouldn't be enough to land in there he didn't even get hurt or anything.

I think this video is completely fake!!!!!! Me and Romina came across this video on YouTube witch is proof that this MEGAWOOSH video is fake... DUN DUN DUN!!!! It shows that the man is tethered to, well duh a tether. The tether somehow pulls the man straight up into the air and placed him directly, perfectly in the dead center of a tiny little pool. Also you can't even see the bottom of the slide. Anything could happen down there!! THIS IS SUCH A FAKE!!! Plus me and Kevin had a philosophy that at the bottom of the slide they switched out the man with a dummy and did a lot of confusing math and science to perfectly make the dummy go into the pool, then there's a different person in the pool tat holds the dummy down when it flies in and then rises up and pretends he just legit did that. I know that it's probably not right and would take a lot of time, I just thought I should mention it!! That is why this video is a complete phony!!!!!!

Mr. Steltman minutes after I posted my blog I re watched the video that I sent you a link to. I found out the guy was hanging on to a YELLOW CORD the colour of the slide, if you pause it in time. He is getting tethered or something and the guys don't even throw water. In the video to make it more realistic they just threw water and everyones like "OHHHH" thats real!

I think that this video is not real and my proof is.....
1. he could not have landed in that pool and not be hurt
2. they would have had to practice to get in the right spot and he would have goten hurt
3. you cant see the whole track so they could have launched him and then stoped the video edited it then put him in the pool and then every wone cheered

I can tell when news is fake when there is no prof that the news is real and when it has bad spelling, punkuation, gramer and more

I know when something is click bate when it's to good to be true or unrealistic for example if it said click here for free puppy's witch is not true

FAKE -I think this is fake because the guy would of had to try that a million times to get the pool in the right spot. And even when the guy landed in the pool he could of hurt his legs because of the shallow water and they could of stopped the video to make it looked like he did the whole jump

I think this video is fake. This performer would have to of hurt them self, its a big hight from the ramp, and the water is way too shallow to be in. If it would be real the people would be cheering a lot louder. The stunt is a bit to perfect and not really that realistic. Also, The filmer zooms out before he started, and after he was in the kiddie pool he zoomed back in. they also did it only a cloudy damp day, that doesn't really have good lighting and good graphics, too see clearly.

I think this video is fake. I think it is fake because when the guy is sent down the slide, it zooms out and you can not see the middle of the slide because a hill is covering it. They could have paused the video and had a dummy in his place instead. Then when it went into the pool, they would pull the sled in and the real guy would be hiding in it and then will pop out at the end.

I know something is click bait because it seems to good to be true and it makes you want to just click on it. It also says stuff that is exaggerated like 'Click here to start a program to lose fifty pounds in 3 weeks'. It does not make sense that it is possible. If it is possible, you probably have to go on a crash diet and do tons of exercise.

I think this is totally fake because how would a grown man fly that fast and high and make it into a kiddie pool! LIKE REALLY! I think its edited by a really good editor to make it seem like a really small pool when its really like a lake or something, or maybe the whole video is fake. He would also get severely injured or killed. I think this video became famous or clicked on because it looked extremely real and the title was probably "OMG YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENS **so risky**. That is why I think this video is FAKE!

I think this video is FAKE. The proof I have for my opinion is that it is not possible to fly at such a high speed and height and land in a very small pool (kiddie pool). Also he gets out of the pool UNHARMED! I bet this video was clickbait because the title on the add was probably " FARTHEST JUMP FROM A SLIP AND SLIDE RAMP". That is how I know this video is fake.

I think this video is fake because the speed he was going he would of got hurt from the jump he did but some of the prat look true but I think fake.

I think its fake because there's probably a rope or something attached to him plus he flew to high in the air its not possible

I think this video is not real. The proof I have for my opinion is.........
1.it would take some real skill to do that jump
2.it would take some real calculations or so many tests to get the pool in the right place
3.if you were the person that went down that hill you would have a 90% chance of DIEING
5.to me i think it has to be totally fake JUST BECAUSE ITS LIKE A MAN FLYING DOWN A LONG MAT AND ENDING UP IN A KIDDIE POOL SO THEY PROBABLY EDITED OR SOMETHING

Jacob

I think the video looks fake because...

The slip and slide was not long enough to pick up that much speed.
You can't control your self since you can't steer on the slip and slide. All the bumps in the mountain would make it near impossible to hit the ramp perfectly.
In the air he would have not went that far so he would not have landed into the pool if it was real.
If it was real, when he got into the the little blow up pool with that speed he would have went right through the side of the pool and crashed into the side of the mountain (probably break his legs).
You could see the men standing around the pool on the mountain side. The men are not even moving or cheering. When the camera zooms to the pool, they just show up and start cheering with the guy.
The whole stunt would have to be set up perfectly in order to work.
So that is why I think this video is fake.
