Developing Character a la Chris Tozier

This week we had the pleasure of chatting with author Christopher Tozier (@oliviabrophie). He was incredibly inspiring, and offered us tons of tips on our writing, what it’s like to be a writer, and challenges that writers face. Something he spoke about was the importance of developing character, and creating characters that are 3 dimensional. Your task this week is two parts:

Write down one thing you learned from Chris during his talk.
Create your own character that you will use in a story one day. For this character, they must have: - a name

a favourite food
3 personality traits (e.g. funny or humble)
a flaw (something that can create conflict)
how would they react in a difficult situation (e.g. they didn’t do their homework)

Write down all of these things in your post below. When you’ve done that, write a paragraph from their perspective as they start their first day of grade 6. I’m so excited to see the characters that you create!

I definitely agree when Mr.Steltman says that it was a pleasure talking to the authour of Olvia Brophie Which is Chris Tozier. It was really cool tot alk to a real author and learn about what he learned over the years of being an author and assuming what he knows and what he has learned he have definitaley written some great book. Like I said it was really great to talk to him because now I can say that I talked to someone famous. Although it I didn't really talk to him! This week our assighnmet was to write about what we found most interesting about what he talked to us about. There are a lot of things that I found ineteresting but this is just one of the things that I found interesting.

Question 1:
There are a lot of things that I found interesting but here si just one. The one thing that I found interesting was that when you give a publisher your book to publish they have the right to do anything with your book. When Christopher Tozier first said that I was like "WOAH that's wrong you shouldn't mess with anybody's book". Since authors spend months and even years trying to perfect a book. I found that interesting because if you sign just oe contract the publisher o your book can change anything they want with your book from; The book title, Character names, Places and even other rthings. Which I personally find awful because authours spend a really long time tring to perfect one book and that if a publisher changes anything from the book it can sometimes completely throw off the book and aso ruin the work that the author spent time making sense and fixing.

Question 2:

a). My characters name is Aariyah Marin.

b). My characters favourite food is POUTINE!!!

c). Aariyah's character traits are: Kind,Awkward and funny (none of these are me except for the awkward part).

d). My characters flaw/imperfection is that she is unconfident.

e). If Aaryiah was ever in a difficult situation she wouldn't react as well. Say that Aariyah was ever in a situation like if she was ever called on in class and she wasn't paying attention and didn't know the answer she would freak out and start crying. Since she is unconfident she wouldn't be confident (obviously) and would freak out and would not know what to do.

Those are just some of the basic facts about my character!!

It was very interesting to talk to Christopher Tozier and know more about his character "Olivia Brophie" The 1 thing I learned from our talk with Christopher Tozier is when you write a book you don't just write it and you are finished you have to do a first draft then edit that then find a publisher and publish the book. That takes about 4 years which is a lot because I once wrote a comic book and that took me about 1 hour to write. So there is a very big difference between that.

Today I am going to tell you about my character his name is George Peterson. Here are a few things I think you should know about him. His favorite food is carrots because when he was little his favorite animal was a bunny and he wanted to be like a bunny so he ate carrots just like them. George has 3 traits the first 1 is kind because he always goes by the term treat others the way you want to be treated. He lifes by that term and he wants other people to be nice to him so he is nice to other kids. The 2nd trait that George has is Funny he always makes people laugh by telling jokes he is a jokster and people really enjoy that about him. The 3rd trait that George has is honest he always tells the truth which is good but if somebody says "how was my project George" He doesn't always say yes because he is a very honest person. George likes most things in life, like airplanes,cupcakes and school but there is one particular thing in Georges life that he despises and that is Green floors because he thinks it looks like somebody threw up on it. He can't do anything in their for example if he is writing a test with green floors he will do really bad on the test. That is Georges flaw. When George has a problem like forget to bring in his science project that is worth 50% of his science mark he squeezes his hand. I know what your thinking its not that bad well your wrong because when he was in grade 2 he forgot to bring in his hockey stick for show and tell and he squeezed his hand until the circulation was cut off luckily he was ok. So that is actually a very serious issue. Hopefully that changed your minds. Now I am going to tell you how the start of his first day of grade 6 was.

It was a cold chilly morning in September, George couldn't wait to go to school he couldn't wait to see the new teachers and students. He already knew his teacher her name was Mrs. Lowry she had taught George the year before. George also already knew 3 kids that were going to be in his class they were Chris,Matthew and Edward they had all been best friends since kindergarten. George was also excited to meet the new faces and hey you never know some of those people could end up being his lifetime friends. When he got out of bed he had a shower brushed his teeth and packed his bag and then sat down for breakfast. George was not used to this routine he was used to sleeping in and playing video games. George wolfed down his breakfast because he realized he was late to meet Chris,Matthew and Edward to walk to school with them. George went to Montreal Canadians elementary, after breakfast George headed out to meet his 3 friends about a 3 minute walk later he meet them at Chris avenue. Then he thought back to grade 4 when Chris took that sign and hung it up on his bedroom wall. About 2 days Later his parents made him put the sign back and they grounded Chris for 2 weeks. "Hi George" His 3 friends said George replied back saying "Hi" Then they walked to school and right at the bell made it into class. "Good morning students my name is Mrs.Lowry" Then all the students replied back saying "Good morning Mrs.Lowry" The start of grade 6 had begun and George had never felt happier in his life until Mrs.Lowry said "Students from my class last year please hand in your summer assignments and if you look down you can see we have new floors in the classroom they are Green!" George Squeezed his hand tighter than he had ever before everybody was looking at him but George was to busy trying to squeeze his hand. Mrs.Lowry looked at George too and said "Is everything ok George would you like a drink of water" Right at that moment George yelled louder than he had ever yelled before louder than 100 air horns he said "I cut off my circulation" "Let go" all the students said "I can't" George said Then every single person in the class pried his hand off his other hand and then finally George was ok. That was the end off that reaction he had gotten over it and for the rest of the day he was very happy. That was Georges first day of grade 6.

It was very cool to talk to Christopher Tozier because he had so many good tips to help us with writing. It was also helpful because we can use this to our advantage in the future when we need to write books.

1. One thing I learned was that your character is the most important thing in the book. It needs to have a personality and a good story with it. You also need to make it seem like a real person that you could find on the street.

2. My character's name would be Jeff.
My characters favourite food would be pudding
My characters 3 traits would be: funny, mature and smart.
My character gets really angry when someone bugs them.
When my character is in a difficult situation they start to panic and mess things up

First day of school
September 08, 2018
Hi, my name is Jeff, I am a grade 6 student that is moving to a public school. I used to go to a private school but I was being bullied and nobody did anything about it. Sooo I got fed up and decided I would give this public school a shot because we lived close to it. My parents say i'm smart, funny and mature. On The first day of school I was nervous and panicking because I don't know anyone at this school. I didn't know what they did, what the school looked like and what the teachers and peers were like! I was also wondering how everyone would treat me being that i'm the NEW kid. I was thinking about so many things when I was getting ready. I was trying to look nice for the first day so that people didn't think I was a rubbish kid. That morning my Dad drove me to school. I was walking down the sidewalk to go meet my teacher and the principal came out and asked us if we wanted to take a tour so that I know where I have to go. After the principal took us for the tour, he took us outside so I could meet my teacher. I walked out the door and the principal led me to where my teacher was standing. He had a board with his name on it. The board read “Mr. Nee”. There were a bunch of students standing in a circle talking with their friends. I walked up to Mr. Nee and said “Hi, I'm the new kid.” Mr. Nee turned and said “Hi, nice to meet you! What is your name?” I said “My name is Jeff, nice to meet you too!” Mr. Nee told everyone to meet me and tell me their name. Everyone was excited I was at their school. The bell rang and we all went to our classes. Mr. Nee told us we could put everything in our lockers so everyone went to their assigned lockers. My locker was locker number 13. When everybody was done, Mr. Nee assigned us a couple of pieces of paper. They were just so he can get to know us. No tests yet! I filled the papers out and handed them in to him at his desk. Next period was gym. We were going to do the unit
hockey. I was really glad we could do hockey because that is the sport I play. The first thing we did was make fair teams. Apparently I was with two other hockey players. The funny thing is that nobody knew I played hockey! Our goalie wasn’t very good but we had good defence. I was on offence. The other team got a 3 on 0 and I got back fastly to recover. Our goalie ran right at them leaving an open net. It was all up to me. I got really nervous and started to panic. I wasn’t playing the proper way and I went right after the guy with the ball. The other offencive player did a deek and got around me. He shot and scored. That is my problem. I panic when I am nervous. Now it’s french class. Our teacher handed out some sheets just to warm us up for the year. I won’t go far into french but the next subject is science. In science we learned about reflections. We used lasers mirrors and some other things to test out what happened if… Where the laser went and why it happened. For last period we went outside and played man hunt. I didn’t get tagged and I had lots of fun!
That was my first day of school.

Talking to Chris Tozier was super cool, because we got to learn writing tips from a real author! I think the most important thing that I learned is to create a character that is interesting and people would care for. You also need to know your character, like you know yourself.

1.My character's name is Hazel Blanchard, I chose this name because "Hazel" means independent,wise, and strong. Blanchard is a french name that translates to "whiteish" which means brave and strong. I think this represents my character very well.

2.Hazel's favourite food is Chicken pot pie, she could eat it all day and never get sick of it.
3.I would describe Hazel as clever,funny, and sassy!
4.Hazel's character flaw is that she is very stubborn, and never does anything that is a little bit dangerous.She is a strict rule follower.
5.If Hazel was in a difficult situation she would react very well, Hazel is responsible and owns up to her mistakes.

When we were talking to Chris Tozier the author of Olivia Brophie. I thought it was amazing because we were talking to a professional author! One of the things I learned from Chris Tozier was if you don’t put any life situation into the story people would think it is boring and have no feeling for the book. But right when you put some effort into the story and feel emotions while writing it, more people would read it, the better.

My Character -
1. My Characters name is Christine Blackburn!
2. Christine’s favourite thing to eat is Spinach Sufflé. (Not as a dessert though) .
3. The Three Traits of Christine is caring, bossy, and intelligent! ( Not because those are my traits or anything! )
4. Christine’s flaw is that she could be unhelpful. For example, if her mother ask her to clean her room up and make it neater so people can step into her room she would just jump into her bed and say she shouldn’t be told what to do all the time.
5. If Christine was in a difficult Situation she would tell herself to calm down until she can’t take it in anymore. The first thing Christine would probably do is freak out on her sister because she has lost her mind which makes her sister yell at her and her mother comes and yells at both of them and then everyone else in the house starts yelling at eachother. But if it wasn’t that big of a problem she would work it out and talk to someone that she trust, like her mother, father, etc.

Talking to Chris Tozier was very inspiring. He taught us about so many cool things about being an author. One thing I learned from him was that writing a book can take about 4 years! I think that takes a lot of dedication. Where as for me after writing for an hour I get bored. He said he writes about half a page each day, which can be very hard. So he definitely is dedicated!

Now on to making my character...

1. My characters name is Megan Jones
2. Her favorite food is cake
3. She is Honest,shy and smart
4. Her flaw is that she has no friends and is very lonely.
5. If Megan was in a difficult situation she would not react very well. She is shy and cannot talk to people that well.

Megan's First Day Of Grade Six...

It was a cold morning when I woke up. My alarm clock buzzing telling me to wake up. It's been a long summer, it was boring. Since I just moved here. I've been lonely. I have no one to hang out with. My stomach was doing somersaults...huge somersaults. After getting ready and having breakfast it was finally time. I kissed my mom and dad goodbye an went out the door. Only about 5 minuets later I was at my bus stop. Being the only child I am use to being alone, yet I’ve always wanted to have friends. Finally my bus pulled up. I climbed on and sat at the back, alone. After picking up the rest of the students I finally saw the school. I got off the bus last. I heard the bell ring and took my seat in class. It seemed as if everyone was avoiding sitting next to me. My face is burning hot, I was tempted to cry but I blinked back my tears. My teacher Ms. Stewart came in and started to tell us about herself. Then Ms. Stewart told us we are doing a group project and that we can pick our group. As soon as she said that my whole class started getting their groups ready. I just sat there and hoped that someone would ask me to be in their group. Since I am too shy to ask anyone. Sadly the bell rang and I still had no group. I was on the verge of crying but I need to make it through the last couple classes. In music we just watched a movie. Which was good because I was in no condition to talk to anyone. My last 2 classes were the same. We just played games and watched movies. Once the bell rang I got ready and went on the bus. I sat in the back. Alone. Again. Until a girl sat next to me. She was really nice. We talked all the way home, it was kind of weird because I wasn't shy around her. Maybe today wasn’t so bad after all.

I think when we were talking to Chris Tozier we learned a lot about writing and making our writing skills better! I definitely learned a lot about creating a character and I learned that If you wanna do something it takes a lot of patience because It will take a lot of work to do something that looks really easy but it takes a long process.

This is a character that I created:

1.My Character's name is Lucy Fox

2. Lucy's Favourite food is Caramel popcorn ( And only Caramel popcorn,) she hates every other kind of popcorn there is!

3. Lucy's personality traits are that she is Nice,Forgetful and sweet!

4. Lucy's Character flaw is that she will be Be rude and bossy when she doesn’t get her way! Which makes everyone around her get angry.

5.If Lucy ever got in a difficult situation she would react to it by keeping quiet and solving the problem or if she is the one who is getting in trouble she will explain what happened and won’t make the same mistake again!

Talking to Chris Tozier was amazing! I learned a lot about writing a book and I also learned a lot about having a unique character.

Part 1. One of the things I learned about making a character is that you want the character to have flaws and you also want to know a lot about your character.

My Paragraph:

September 8th 2016 I checked off the days on my calendar for 2 months now but I can’t believe that school starts today. I was nervous all morning especially when I was brushing my hair and eating my cervel. I didn’t know what was going to happen if I was going to have a panic attack or if people were going to make fun of me like they did at my old school. I was made fun of because a lot of things like the way I dress or the way I do my hair. But I usually get made fun of because I get stressed a lot in big decisions. Anyway I am freaking out now we moved 3 times because of kids making fun of me and I don’t want to make it 4. The bell rang and I rushed to class, I heard a group of girls talking about me but they didn’t say anything mean, I guess it’s because I’m the new girl. I went and sat in the back of the classroom and saw a group of girls sitting at the front and giving me mean looks, I better stay away from them I thought to myself. Finally the teacher came in and everyone got quiet, Hello class my name is Mrs.Brooks and I will be your teacher this year. I looked around and saw the group of girls looking at me, when they saw me looking they gave me this evil smile before turning around to tell each other. I knew that this was going to be a very long day.

I found it really interesting to learn about Christopher Tozier and the process of making his books. I also really enjoyed learning about how to make a good lead character. 1 Thing I have learnt from him was how long the process of publishing the book took I didn’t expect it to be that long.

My characters name is Bryn Natalia
Her Favorited food is tortellini
Her Character Traits are Clever, Stubborn and Clumsy
Her Flaw is that she is too stressed and cautious
In a difficult situation Bryn wouldn’t act her best and would be nervous of the consequences

My Paragraph:
The buzzing of my alarm clock made me not want to get out of my bed even more than before! I threw my pillow on my head and groaned, I knew eventually I had to get out of bed even if I didn’t want to, I shut my eyes for a split second than got up. I ran downstairs not looking forward to the coldness of the freezing tiles. I could tell that Dad already left for work and that mom was pouring me a bowl of cereal. I ate fast than mom suggested that we leave. I put on my packed bag and left for school. Mom says that I am lucky that I am a block away from school which is better than Portland but I have to say goodbye to my past even if I like it or not. I finally found myself in the front hallway of my new school. I turned left for my homeroom and entered. I took in my new screaming classmates then turned my head to the white board with big letters saying “FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!” I bent down and asked the girl closest to me “Is this Class 6-3?” She took a second to acknowledge me than responded “yes It is, My name is Zoe by the way and if you like you can sit beside me” I grinned and urged out the shy words inside me “thank-you, that will be nice my name is Bryn.” Maybe this won’t be as bad as I thought.

1.I learned that if you don’t have an interesting character your book won’t be that interesting. He talked a lot about having a great descriptive character so that you book is more fun to read. He told us to have a character flaw and base the book about the flaw. The flaw doesn’t have to get fixed by the end of the story but having one bases the story. From now on I am going to think more about the characters before writing the book because from what I heard it sounds like the character is really important!

If there was a problem with his friends or in school he would talk to his friends or the teacher. When he is under pressure it doesn’t bug him. He has great patience so he acts well when difficult situations happen.

My paragraph of his first day of school.

I wake up to the birds chirping and think of how great the first day of school will be. I get to make new friends and learn new stuff. "Joey time for breakfast" mom calls. I rush to get ready and head downstairs. Once I eat my breakfast I rush out the door and head to school. I take two steps out and run back in. "Forgot my bag!" Silly me! Back in and then back out. I got to school early so I could talk to my friends and my favourite part of the first day: seeing who is in my class! After that I went inside our classroom and got everything settled in my desk and locker. Then we saw our schedule and looks like everything is good, except that we have gym because we might play basketball and I am terrible at basket ball. I always have to say I'm sick and then not play. No one has seen me play. And I don't want today to be the first day they do! Class just started and the day is going by fast. Soon enough we will have gym. Recess was fun because we played soccer and I made a bunch of friends. But after that we had gym. Walking into the gym feel great because I'm athletic, except for basketball! "Hello class". Mr. O said. "Today we will be playing basketball". Oh-No! I've pulled the trick too many times now and it would get obvious that I'm only sick when we play basketball. I don't know what to do. Even my best friend doesn't know that I'm really bad at basketball. I have to think fast or soon enough the whole school will know how I play basketball.

Getting to talk to Christopher Tozier was a very astonishing experience because we got to feel how it is to be in a position of a writer! I learnt a lot of things on how to really make your story interesting and making your story as best as it could be! 1 thing Learned was Make your character have a good flaw and don't rush!

Favorite food: Tacos.

Personalities:responsible,clumsy,smart

Flaw: very selfish

If Alison was ever in a difficult situation she would try to make it better by talking about her self which usually doesn't have a happy ending to it!

My first day going to grade 6:
It was very hot when I woke up! The sun was beaming so bright on me that I felt like I was a snow man defrosting!! Anyways once I finally got out of bed...wait wait wait that's never me. let me rephrase that: Once I finally fell off my bed,and rolled all the way to the washroom, I went and brushed my teeth so I can start getting ready for the first day of school! After I got changed I went downstairs to eat breakfast. And of course you probably know what I have for breakfast..... Tacos! tacos are my absolute favorite food! I will eat them at breakfast,lunch and dinner! Sometimes I don't get away with that because my mom goes on and on about how unhealthy it is but I try telling her that I will add two piece of lettuce so I can be healthy at the same time! Anyways once I finally got done eating my dad drove me too school! Well at least he tried too! there was such huge traffic so I had to get out of the car and walk the rest of the way to get to the school! It was very awkward for me because most people had backpacks wile I was just walking with all my notebooks in my hand! I went up to this girl who was walking the same direction I was and explained to her all about my self but half way through when I was explaining she ran away! Which I was so confused about that! anyways once I eventually walked in the school Everyone was going crazy! it was so loud! everyone kept on taking to there friends about what they did in summer and discussing who's class they were in! I walked up to this group of girls and asked them If I could hang out with them! they all said yes! and that is when I met my best friend Sophie,Sophie Cheil!

1 thing I learnt from Chris Tozier was that I could make a book with a lot of detail, character, content, and an amazing story.

My character would be: Bryan T.* Amazing *Totally
Favorite food: prescription cabbage (Dead leaves)
Character traits: Stubborn, Stupid, Forgetful.
Flaw: His IQ is lower than Forrest Gump's.
Bryan would react by saying that he didn't know he had homework.

Paragraph:

It was Bryan Totally Amazing's first day at Shiver Coke's Public School. Bryan got into his new seat, but, when Ms. Vinyl asked Bryan what his name is, he yelled, "I AM BRYAN T. AMAZING!!!" He got sent to the principal's office for making a window shatter. At recess, he was seen picking up dead leaves, and Bryan's new friend, Hamilton "Ham" Oaks, was wondering what Bryan was doing. Then, at lunch, Ham saw Bryan EAT the dead leaves. EEWWWW!!! Then, at gym, the class was playing dodgeball. The abusive gym teacher, Mr. Lash, wanted the dodgeballs to be extra hard. Bryan set a new record for most broken bones in one game of dodgeball. After THAT, Bryan went home (It was the end of the day), and went to sleep instantly, hoping that his bones would heal in the morning. Then he realized he forgot his homework. Bryan was grounded for making his window shatter.

One thing I learned from Christopher Tozier is that to include everything that describes the character not just start a story with no information about the character. (EX. How old is he, What does he like to do everyday, What's his favourite sport.

The first day of grade 6 from Bach's perspective.

It was Monday, September 1st ,2015 and I was super excited that when my mom woke me up I jumped out of my bed, got ready, and ran inside the car so my mom can get me to school. I got to school and it was 9:25AM and I am already late for the first day, I got a late slip and went up stairs to my class. I opened the door and saw almost some of my friends from last year in grade 5 and that made me not so scared. After 40 minutes it was recess and I was playing soccer with my friends. When recess was over I went inside and then we started to do math then after math we had french. It was recess again and we played soccer again, after recess we had two periods of gym which was awesome. We played doge ball then we played octopus.

One thing that I learned was that you don't have to be the best person with spelling after you are doing then you go over your spelling and that you sometimes make paragraphs that don't make scenes but you need to work with that.

The first day of school for him

It was a Monday September 7th 2017 and it was the first day for everyone and one person Billy Power was just crying because summer was over:(. So he started walking to the school he was happy that he had the best teacher in world Mr. Fletcher but he didn't know who was in his class. Has he walk to the teacher and then saw all his friends where in his class ya! So they went inside and they sat at the same table for the whole day. Then gym came and they had the best time in the world because they played doge ball. Then they finally went home and now Billy knows to stay on the positive side.

Being able to talk to a professional writer was pretty cool. I think that I learned a lot from Christopher Tozier. When he told us about looking really deep into our characters characteristics, I thought that that would help.

My character facts

Name:Gordon Santos

Favorite food: Poutine and lettuce

Personality: Practical, Fast Learner and Energetic

Flaw: Really Really Really (Really x 999) bad nicknamer.

In a bad situation Gordon would tell everybody to stay calm, then he would go and cry in the closest corner and pinch anyone that came to close.

First day of grade 6,
I was so excited for the first day back at school. I was so excited that my sister and I had a sleepover in her room. I was so tired I past out in less than a minute.
I woke up and didn't feel like getting up, So I didn't. I slept in until 9:20 and my school started at 9:30. I was in a hurry. I got up and threw some clothes on quickly. I went downstairs and ate my breakfast really fast. I texted my friend Bach to see what teacher I got. I sprinted to school and got in my home room.
*Laugh* *Giggle* *Laugh*
Everybody was laughing at me and I didn't know why, even my friends. Bach pointed and I looked at my clothes. I obviously forgot I was in my sisters room, so I guess I put on all her clothes. I ran to the bathroom thinking to myself that this wasn't the kind of person I was. I changed into my gym clothes and went back to my class. Of course it was empty. My teacher peeked at me with the corner of his eyes and pointed with his pen to the schedule. Gym, yes. This was my time to make up for my mistake this morning. I hurried downstairs to the gym and slowly entered. We where playing tennis. I grabbed a racket and challenged my friend. The teacher kept an eye on me. It was my serve. I threw the ball up and slammed it on the other side. "Yes, that's a point for me" I thought to myself. Time went by fast.
We had a tournament after our first match and I made it to the finals. I was playing a new kid that looked pretty intimating. It was his serve. He spiked is and I barely got my racket their in time. 45-45 me later on in the game and I need one more point to win and so does my opponent. My serve. I threw the ball up and swung my racket.....
It slipped out of my hands, it was a cm away from hitting my teacher but he just moved out of the way. It bolted towards the wall and smashed the fire alarm. That triggered and everybody hurried outside. I felt so embarrassed. I went to the nurses office and pretended that I was sick, I went home and didn't come back for another week. On that Sunday I slept in my moms room for a fresh start.

The one thing I learned from Christopher Tozier is that you always have to keep on reading the your same book over and over again to make sure that you understand what you were talking about. Also so you can see if you made any sudden mistakes. Like how Christopher Tozier said he read the book 80 times!!!!!!

My girl's name is Kat lacey. I picked Kat cus Kat is an animal lover who loves any animal.

it was the biggest day of my life. My mind was telling me this is the best day of your life and it will most definitely be the best year ever make the most out of this day people will judge you bu this day make a good 1st impression! I was thinking what kind of person I will be it is my first day ever at my new school I was homeschooled my whole life so I did not know what I should act like so I said just be myself people will like me for who I am and if they don't want to be friends it's ok not everyone will like me so I just jumped into my day my teacher was really nice she let us just do our own thing the whole day get to know one another. By the end of the day I was super happy everyone in gr.6 liked me I was a hit so in my life time experience the best day of my life was the first day of gr.6

1. Thing that I learned from Christopher Tozier is that creating a character is harder than it seems. When he said that sometimes it takes him a whole day just to come up with one sentence I was really surprised.

Wow my first day of grade six I am so happy that I get to see my old friends again. I wonder what my mom is going to make me for breakfast. Hey mom what's for breakfast? Your favourite raisin toast and fruit loops she said. yes the best breakfast in the world thanks Mom you're the best. Are you ready to go to school? yeah I yelled back yes lets go. We pulled up to the school but no one was there it turns out it was a zombie Apocalypse. Just kidding that is impossible or is it yeah its not or is it. Anyway we pulled up and my gym teacher was there Mr Otten. We both said hi to each other then I said bye to my mom and she said the same to me. I was walking on to the black top to see who is in my class I got to my line and guess who was my teacher? The big the bad Mr Steltman ahhhhhhh just kidding he turned out to be really nice. I saw who was in my class - Kai, Lucas, Noah, Blake, Logan, Connor, Aiden, Vib, etc.. and some girls too. We got to first period which was our homeroom and we were doing introductions. Our teacher was explaining things about him and we were asked to do the same. I learned a lot about my fellow classmates and I knew from the start that it was going to be a great year.

I learned 2 things when we Skype with Chris Tozier the main character is the most imported character and must have lots of detail.

It was a big day it was a pizza compilation and whoever won gets 20000 large pizza (a little bit to much.) The race curous was first the the shark tank then you had to swim next to a shark next was you have to rope walk over a pool of very very very hungry crocodiles. Then you have to hack into a bank steal 1,000,000 bucks then throw it in the compost. First up was Paul he died and fall and got chomp by the sharks and died. Then it was Mr Stetman he made it past then fall on the ropes and jumped on each crocodile and made it to the compter and hacked and throw the money out and won. Not.

IT WAS AIDAN NEXT THE ONE!!!
He eat the sharks and made it throw. Then we punched every crocodile and and made them cry. Then looked at the computer and taped one button and one. But we has full and gave Mr Steltman the pizza the end. (:(:

As you might know I wasn't their to speak with Chris Tozier and I am really disappointed that I missed out in such a unique opportunity. Chris sounded like a really nice guy and from what I have read he sounds like he taught this class a lot of the important elements of writing a good interesting book. Well I am not to sad because I have read all of the blogs well most of the blogs and I got to know what type of things that Chris talked about that make a good interesting story. I didn't really get the experience of an author talking to me but I now know a good amount of stuff that Chris talked about and all the elements of the elements to make a good story.

My characters name is Damien Alexandrian I choose this name because I wanted something that was exotic and unique for the type of person that Damien is because he is exotic and unique.I kind of also just like the name Damien.

Damien's favorite food is a bagel with a burger in it and lettuce and tomato and ketchup because Damien doesn't like burger buns but he loves burger patties and all the toppings.

1. His first characteristic is he is adventurous Damien is always looking fr new things to try new places to go and he gets bored with the same thing when it happens two times in a row.

2. His second characteristic is he is funny Damien is always the kind of person who is looking to make some one laugh. Sometimes Damien doesn't even mean to be funny and people think he is making a joke.

3. His second characteristic is that Damien is sensitive when someone tells something sad to Damien he gets really really sad and he has a really hard time handling bad news.

Damien's flaw is that if Damien gets dared t do something Damien has to do he doesn't literally have to do but he fells like he has to and his life depends on whether it is going op to some one and hugging them all the way up to going down a water fall in a barrel.

Damien would react poorly in a tough situation because Damien even though he is funny that is only when he is relaxed but in a tough situation Damien gets stressed and starts to worry and it all goes down hill from there.

I woke up on a wonderful Saturday morning where the birds were chirping and all I did was sleep in in my nice comfortable bed with my stuffed pig Piggles. I though the rest of the day was going to be great because I am going over to my friend Jarrod's house for his birthday party it is suppose to be great. Why don't you keep in mind what I said a little earlier I thought that the rest of the day was going to be great. At around 11:00 I wake up to the sound of my mom yelling from downstairs " DAMIEN ARE YOU STILL ASLEEP"
I mean is their anything better than waking up to the sound of your yelling mom? OH WAIT TODAY ISN'T SATURDAY IT MONDAY!!!!! oh no no no no no !!! I am just thinking to myself "really Damien your late to school on the first day!!!" I jump out of bed putting my clothes on as fast as I can and really as messy as I can with my clothes all wrinkled and my pants are inside out and my shirt is on backwards. I sprint out of my room running down the stairs I trip over my own feet landing right right flat on my face but I don't even care because I shoot right back up and run out the door. It poring rain outside and I mean poring but I just run right out the door without a umbrella getting my shirt all wet and my clothes even more wrinkly. I sprint across the street with dozens of cars honking at me because I got right in the way of the road but I don't care and finally after 10 minutes of running I am at my school. I run into the school not even knowing which class I am in. I must have gone through 10 classes just peeking through the door before I got the the right class. I opened the door yelling "DON'T WORRY I'M HERE!!!" I am standing their all wet and soggy and then all the class stops working and taking notes and the British teacher ms Bullington stops talking and looks a me with anger and says " Mr Alexandrian how dare you step into this classroom looking like a monstrosity " I just shrugged but when I did that she got even more angry and said in an even more strict voice " where are your books anyway" When i heard those words I felt like I was going to collapse because I realized i ran out of the house so quickly I forget
my backpack which had my lunch and my books in it. I can hear little giggles in the background but I can't quite figure out who they are coming from so I just take my seat which was the only one left which was right beside the school bully Martin Barley.

For this week's blog post we got a very special visit from an author named Chris Tozier, very very sadly I was not hear on that monday due to an ear infection I got swimming in mexico over march break, I wish I could of been there to here his talk but I couldn't control it,so that also means that I can't tell you one lesson that I learned from his because I wasn't there so to make up for it I am going to make it extra long so here are the traits of my character:

1. Donovan first personality trait is that is very demanding he wants what he wants, how he wants it, whenever he wants it.

3. Donovan Vespers last but not least personality trait is he is never seen without a golden necklace around his neck and a ducky inflatable around his waist including when he is sleeping (I don't know how he does it).

My characters flaw is that he is always afraid the he is going to get hurt, so he wears the ducky inflatable for protection, so he is very cautious about everything he does he makes sure his pencil is not to sharp or that he has his latex gloves on when opening a cereal box, he is cautious about everything he does including checking to make sure the car horn works before he uses it then makes sure the car horn still works after he pressed to check if it still worked.

"I don't want to do this" "I don't want to do this" said Donovan as the alarm went brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg as he looked at the shiny solid gold clock beside his bed as it read 7:25 and that is the time he is sup post to get out of bed, so he angerly pulled the brand new 100$ sheets of his bed and onto the butler who said "good morning Mr. Vesper" in a nice cheerful way and he responded with a "whatever" in an annoyed, disrespectful way he checked the red carpet to make sure it was clear to walk on but very quickly he noticed a huge hazard so he said to the butler "whatever your name is go get that piece of lint off the ground and quickly because my legs are getting tired sitting here" and off the butler went with his Mario mustache flapping through the air and picked up the piece of lint and started to walk away but Donovan quickly stopped him with a growl and said "GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT"
and the butler quickly turned around and walked over to Donovan and he said "carry me" so he picked Donovan up and carried him over to the vault were he put on his rubber inflatable and his golden necklace and walked downstairs were he saw a feast of waffles, pancakes, and of course his coffee with you know what in it it was heaven and the only words that came out of his mouth were "frankly I'm disappointed" and "I deserve better" but anyway he checked his steps again and he slowly sat down to prevent injury and carefully picked up his fork and started to chow down on the 15 crispy waffles on the table and after 15 minutes he was done and ready to go to school.

I don't know why but when I pressed submit it cut off a lot of my story so I will just continue from here, Donovan was thinking about how much he was going to hate this school and how he was going to tread going here everyday, it was a very silent drive there which I think Donovan's Dad enjoyed for the first time in 11 years even when he was first born "he would not stop talking" he dad said when he told the story to someone,so anyway Donovan broke the silence by saying "Dad, this school only rated 5 stars out of 5 stars I deserve a school that is 5! out of 5! stars" and followed up with "don't you want me to be alive by the end of the day" and the lastly he said " I mean, the probably don't even have a caviler at there restaurant" and the his dad quickly said "HA, they don't even have a restaurant" "are you kidding me" Donovan said in a snarky voice, "thank god we are at school, I heard one more minute or this..." his dad whispered to him self but Donovan interrupted him by the door slamming shut and before his dad could say anything or move Donovan was out of sight. When Donovan got inside the secretary at the front office offered him some coffee but he said "is that decaf" and she responded with "well yes we..." but Donovan interrupted her by saying "just stop your embarrassing yourself" and then walked away.

The rest of the day went pretty normal and he got his own coffee with 2. 546738198 kilograms of sugar, 1 sweetener, 13 milks no more no less, 2 pumps vanilla extract, 3 pumps agave syrup, 1 pump watermelon juice, and 4 pumps Saffron Flower juice which only grows and the side of a volcano in the middle of the amazon rain forest heated to exactly 32 degrees Celsius, stirred exactly 24 times in a counterclockwise formation and 3 swirls of whipped cream on topic with a rubber ducky swirly straw on top and at the end of the day Donovan though he was done but then the principal said "Mr.Vespers, you are not going anywhere" he put on his reading glasses to read his detention slip "you need to serve 2034 hours over the next 50 years" and here is why.

For this charector story I partnerd up with salma and will be featuring her Charector "Allison Gray"

A month went by and in that time i finally made a decent friend named Allison, she was very kind but a little selfish .I still feel a bit like an outsider mostly because I don’t really know her other friends but they are making me feel very welcome. I was excited for today to see my friends. I went to school really excited for some reason but I didn’t know why. After meeting alison a few houses down we walked to school. Once we were in the classroom There was an announcement “Bryn Natalia and Alison Gray please come down to the office” The whole class joked and said we were in trouble. When we reached the office the principal said “DETENTION NOW!!!” as he pointed his finger to the office we followed. Alison Jerked “I didn’t do anything” he replied “Oh really, then what explains this he clicked the remote for the video to start. It was security tape nothing was happening in the parking lot till 2 kids came in wearing masks of our faces to then steal the tiers of of a car. “We didn’t do it” we both said, “Prove It” I replied my mom took us to the mall during that time so call her” He picked up the Phone “UH Huh, Yeah, So Sorry, Please don't tell the board,I’ll be a good boy,BYE” .He sighed and stared at us “Sorry, You may leave”. We walked down the hall to then hear “Joey, Megan and Devon please report to the office.
