Dear Younger ME!

This week I would like you to reflect on the experiences you have gone through in your lives, especially this past year as school has looked and felt different than any year before it. I know personally I never would have imagined how difficult yet rewarding this final year of teachers college would have been, but I would love to have the opportunity to share this information with my younger self. You will be doing the same.

For example:
Dear younger Me,
This next year, you are going to face a lot of challenges due to covid and all that it will throw your way and your students' way. Not only will you not be able to attend your classes at the Brock campus (my entire last year of school ever was virtual), but the burnout you will feel throughout the year will be like none other. You will have days where there is seemingly not much work to get done, but even that feels like a huge mountain to climb. However, despite all of this, you will have one of the best years of your life ever. You are about to meet some of the best kids you could ever imagine. I know that sounds cliche or corny but honestly, these kids will test your patience and make you question if you are in the right profession, but the connections and joy you will get from them will be enough to solidify to you that teaching is without a doubt the number 1 job in the world. This next year will be life changing in that you are about to start your journey into true adulthood and embrace your passion fully with some truly amazing humans.

Dear young me, make sure to watch all of the odd squad episodes on TVO. It teaches you math. Also play lots of fun games well you can because soon you will not like all the games, and bury a time capsule for time to come. dont wreck what you have keep it in good condison you might want to sell it later

Dear younger Me,
It is me older Leah I hope you are having the time of your life right know like having hockey games and softball game. Well whatever you're doing it's probably more fun than what the whole world is doing right now. We are in a global pandemic and we have to wear face masks to school, I don't even have hockey games or tournaments. And whatever I go to hockey I have to do a screening then at softball then have to take my temperature temperature. Anyway how are you, me,us??? Doing how is Young Tommy and Chelsea doing[ they're my two dogs] . Anyway I hope you're doing very good and be prepared for covid-19.

dear younger me,

this year will have all new class mates and your first male teacher called Mr.steltmen, also in the end of fall I think you will have a second teacher called Mr.kerr tough in the start of April he will leave so try to make good friends with him. in the middle of fall you will be interested in biology again, specifically something called speculative biology or speculative evolution which is basically guessing how life will evolve in the future. oh and the most important thing I need you to know that in march there will be a pandemic about a viruses from bats in china called covid 19. don't worry though because it only affects the old but when you go to a public place you need to wear a surgical mask. at first there will be no school but then school will be opened again but you need to wear a mask and sanitize or wash your hands after brake. then you will have online school witch I know we don't like but then we will have normal school again. the vaccine for covid has recently been discovered so I hope that I will live long enough to get one or the virus dies off. that's what next year is going to be like next year so bye and all hail the flish.

Dear younger me,
It is me! uuh... you! but older. One year anyways. I just wanna tell you how lucky you are to be in 2019 ... for NOW! You might be confused and maybe thinking - why am I lucky? Well, in 2020 there is a virus coming around, virus called CoVid 19 which is deadly by the way and cause's you to practically suffocate from coughing. One of the symptoms is shortness of breath and coughing. Horrible! The other problem with COVID is that whenever we have to talk to people we have to stay six feet apart away from each other and that's called social distancing. There are a lot of things that will change in your life in just a year from now.
However, the awesome side to this is that this year in school you will meet your best friends and meet some other people in your class for the first time. Another thing that is great is that you will be studying with the best teachers in the world. Yeah, you're probably jealous right now. Well, just wait for another year and meet the duo ''Mr Eastman and Mr Kerr''. You will also try learning online for a period of time and it will be an interesting experience, but a bit difficult as well. This is the experience I had for this year, the experience that awaits you, so enjoy 2019 and when it turns to 2020, be ready for some change. Thank you for reading this younger me, ill be moving to 2022 pretty soon -

Dear self,
Your PROBABALY wondering why I said dear "self". WELL I am YOU from TWO YEARS IN THE FUTURE! So your ten right? You should be getting this note on July 15th 2019, and your going to Canada's Wonderland with Summer, am I right? That's what I thought. I just need to tell you, please DO NOT chicken out on the Yukon Striker, I know you want to, but it honestly isn't that scary, I mean you ended up going on the Leviathan over ten times in a row, but I won't spoil anything else for you, also make sure to remember your backpack when your done eating, because you almost forgot it and you have a lot of important things in there such as your phone, oh and by the way you actually end up getting a better phone too. And LASTLY, I know this note is long and you despise reading, but your almost at the end- make sure to save your money and stop spending it on tim hortons because I know you want them donuts but your going to regret it in the future. Anyways, bye me.. er- you? I don't know, well, see you in the future I guess-

Dear 9 year old me,
Hey me its well you and I am here from the future!
I hope you are enjoying you life now because it is about to kinda suck! In 2019 a deadly virus called COVID 19, AKA Corona virus strike China it then speared around the world. Schools were shut down and we have to where masks. We also went into something called lock down about a million times,where everything is shut down and closed. But their are also some good things in your future such as getting you foster pup! Thats right your mom finally agreed to get a dog! Well kind of. You will be fostering and training a lab named Mozart to be a dog guide! You get him March 2020 and spend lots of time with him during lock down. He becomes your best friend and an amazing boy. Now does he make it to become a guide dog? Well you will just have to wait and see. Now you also get into volleyball and play on the Halton Hurricanes where you get good and make a lot of new friends! Also in grade 6 you get the best teacher ever Mr.Steltman. You also meet Adrie you future best friend. Well you are probably wondering by now witch is 2021 if COVID is gone? Nope its still here and better then ever! Now I don't want to spoil anymore so have fun adventure!

Take me back to 2019 when there wasn't a thing called COVID. And it was a normal life remember when you could go to the beach well here is a memory. MUMMMMM where should I start did you happen to go on a vacation to the beach with your cousins. Well that must have been fun did you stay for a week and were you to scared to go on the rope course and jump off of 60 feet. Well I have a felling you were frozen at the top and the instructor had to push you off 😂but then. You told them that you were most capable by doing it by your self. Next thing that you know a whole crowed was chanting YOU CAN DO IT and guess what you did. BUT it was like you were in slow motion but once you got down you were so happy and you challenge your parents to do it. I hope when you are older you are that adventures. well surprise surprise you cant now so be ready to go into lockdown and have a sad life stay safe.

Dear younger me, Hello younger self, its me, well yourself, from the future, I do not even know anymore. Anyways, you are probably at cheerleading right now so you will probably get this late. I hope things are all good back in the younger life, I have a question for you real fast, have you been through COVID-19 yet? If not just forget what I said. Wassup younger me, it is you in two years. Right now I am in a deadly virus called COVID and it sucks. We had to go in lockdown and stuff like that. Also do well in hockey too because you will play on the same team as most of your friends and it will be alot of fun. Dear younger me,

You're going to change so much in the future and I want you to watch out for anything that comes your way, don't be afraid of things so much and that's the best advice I can give you, you only live once and you should live through things the way you want and anything that you've been wanting to do you should do it because if you don't do it soon enough then you'll never be able to. You should wear whatever makes you comfortable and whatever helps you express yourself the way you want to. I hope that soon you can find a hobbie that you really enjoy.

It is me. I come from the future. I just want you to know that 2020 will be terrible. It will be terrible because covid started and then everything will shut down. You will have to wear a mask and you will learn to go to school online. The positive about being online is that you will be able to do school with all 3 of your cats. What you will learn this year Is how to social distance from others to stay safe from the virus. Get ready because you will not be able to play any REP hockey games, all you will be able to do is practice. But don't worry because you will learn how much you miss hockey even after all of the 6:00am practices on weekdays.

I am you but 2 years in the future, I am warning you about a virus called covid which can kill people so yeah, don’t get it. Covid is also bad because you have to stay inside during quarantine and wear a mask when you leave your house and you had to cancel every single fun plan you had for the summer. Also you started to do cheerleading and you got really good at it and you just had your first competition of the year! One more thing so you know how you are named after Gilmore Girls? Well you have to start watching it right now, it is the best show in the world and you will regret not watching it right NOW!

so hows hockey you better be enjoying those games because there is this thing called covid 19 yeah sounds dumb and you are probably like there no big difference well THERE IS.you have to wear a thing called a mask and they are so hard to breathe in and was your hands a lot more and now in school you have no gym to go in so you have to do it outside but its still fun oh yea and alot more bad stuff if you dont wanna go through covid then hibernate for 4 years so yea.but make sure to have a lot of sleep over now and also have friends over so you dont go through what i am(DONT GET COVID) k bye bestie.btw there is a bright side you dont have to wake up at 5 30 for games or practices.bye for now.(you also got the kewl kid besties so yea thats a good side tehhe)

Dear younger Nic,

In the next year things are going to change and be a lot different than what you are used to. When you go anywhere like school and restaurants like Dave & Busters you will have to wear a mask. At first masks were annoying because it will hurt your ears but you will get used to it. Also when you ask your parents to have a playdate they will say no because of Covid.You could sit and cry about this, but I think you should find other ways to entertain yourself. Some of the things I have got good at are video games like Apex Legends and Minecraft. When you aren’t playing video games some of the things you can do are play outside with your friends, but just make sure you are a few feet apart. Another thing you have to look forward to is you are going to have a great Grade 6 year because you will have two great teachers named Mr. Kerr and Mr. Steltman. You will really like them because they do lots of fun lessons like coding and doing hands-on science experiments. This year is going to be different, but you are going to get a lot smarter and stronger this next year!
