Celebrated Frog Jumping Contest of Calaveras County: Summary

Over the past few weeks in math we’ve been working on algebra through the lens of the frog jumping contest made famous by Mark Twain in his short story. I have found this incredible Lego stop-motion version of this story! Your challenge this week is to write a ONE PARAGRAPH (not one sentence) SUMMARY of what happens in the story. The Celebrated Frog Jumping Contest of Calaveras Country: Summary
Jim Smiley was a very mysterious man who loved to bet on almost everything and in anyway. Then one day he caught a frog and wanted to make him the best jumper in the county. He named the frog Daniel Webster and started to train his frog to jump really high and far. He did really good and won lots of money for Jim. Then one day a stranger came and asked Jim about his frog and Jim said that he could beat any from in the county. Then Jim went to find the man a frog to battle him and when he left the stranger fed Jim’s frog to fill him up. When the two frogs battled the strangers frog won and Jim had to pay $40 to the stranger. After the man left he tried to figure out what was wrong and he found out that the man fed the tools to make him heavier so he couldn’t jump. In the end Jim Smiley was ripped off by someone else like he did to other people.

The story is about. A man named Jim Smiley And. He bets a lot. One day he was on a walk and he found a frog.And he thought how can I make you useful so he took the Frog home. And started to train him to be really good at jumping. So they trained and trained and then they started betting $40 to see. Who could jump further. Then one day Jim was just chilling . Then a stranger came and wanted to bet. But he didn't have a frog. So Jim went and try to look at a frog. And when Jim was gone the other guy. Gave Jim's Frog lots and lots of stuff to eat. So he be full and wouldn't be able to jump. Then after the other guy won. The Frog barfed.THE END :)

Jim Smiley was just strolling around, and he found a frog! He caught it and he was determined to train him as much as he could, so he could set a world record! He wanted his frog to be the best jumped in the west, so after naming the frog Daniel, he headed home to start training his new frog. After lots and lots of training, he eventually set a record for highest jumping frog! Jim made lots of money from this. One day while Daniel and Jim were sitting on their front porch, a stranger came up, and asked about his frog, and Jim told the stranger about his frog, so Jim asked is he wanted to bet, and the stranger said he didn't have a frog, but Jim fixed that! Jim went out to catch a frog, but the stranger knew he was going to lose, so while Jim was catching the frog, he fed Daniel lots of heavy stuff to weigh him down, so he couldn't jump, so when Jim came back and the bet started, the other frog beat Daniel of course, and the stranger took off with the money, and when Jim picked up Daniel, he realised how heavy he was, and then Daniel barfed all the stuff out, and Jim tried finding that stranger, to get his money back, but he couldn't find him, THE END! ;)

The story begins with a famous author named Mark Twain telling the story about an old country man named Jim Smiley that liked betting a lot. He used to bet on everything. For example he would bet on dog fights,cat fights, even humans lives.
At one point he saw a frog and he quickly snatched the same frog and said to himself - "how can this frog be useful to me"?!
Then he thought of an idea of a frog jumping contest.He trained the frog as much as he could, and after his training,the frog could out jump any other frog.
One day a stranger came by and asked Jim about his frog and the way he kept it. Jim usually kept his frog in a specific box.
Jim explained that it was a frog that he used for betting.The stranger wanted to bet but he had no frog with him, so Jim went and tried to find a frog for the stranger.In the meantime, as Jim was looking for a frog for his opponent, (the stranger),fed Jim's frog too much, leaving the frog heavy and dull.
Jim found a frog for his opponent and then when he came back to bet Jim's own frog collapsed for being over fed. The stranger took Jim's money as he won and ran. After a while, Jim had his frog puke all the things his opponent had his frog ate he realized that he has been tricked but unfortunately he never got his opponent.

Jim Smiley saw a frog and caught it and decided to name it Daniel Webster. He proceeded to learn about jumping and taught it to Daniel. Daniel could get more ground then any other thing his breed. Smiley was super proud of his frog. Daniel made Smiley a lot of money. A strange person came across Smiley and Daniel. And Smiley made a bet that he could out jump any other frog in Calaveras County. something strange happened to Daniel... The stranger cheated and fed the frog a lot of stuff so he could not jump. He ran after the man who scammed him but never found him. THE END

Now let me me, Mark Twain tell you a story about the frog jump'n contest. Far far far far far far way there was a frog jump'n contest out in Calaveras county. "Hey man I know that that is a very far way from Canada hey". (super canadian guy)
There once was a guy named Jim Smiley,
"Hey there i'm Jim Smiley and I bet on anything Car fights, cat fights, and even cardboard box fights".
It was a glorious evening and me was sitting on me's porch and then this guy wearing overalls came by and asked what was in me's wooden box, I said it isn't a pencil, not an eraser, could be the kung flu panda but no, i'm just teas'n it's me's frog, and i'm will'n to bet that that frog right there can jump higher and farther than all the other frogs in Calaveras county, he bet $20,000 for who can jump farther.
"I would but I dong have a frog" (Overall guy)
"I'll go getcha one". (Jim)
While he was gone overall guy fed the frog a vending machine. When it has time for the race the other frog won because Jim's frog ate a vending machine. So the guy ran off with his $20,000. 2 weeks later Jim let his frog go, a few steps later he threw up a vending machine, and Jim Smiley realized that he'd been bought.

One day in Calaveras county this person named Jim Smiley who loved to bet on almost everything caught a little frog and named him Daniel Webster. Jim told him that he would teach him to be the bust jumper in the world and he could out jump anybody. One day someone walked by and saw that Jim Smiley had a frog in a box and than Jim said that he thinks that his frog could out jump and frog and Jim would bet 20 dollars on his frog, so the man said that he would bet him but he didn't have a frog. Jim Smiley said that he would go get him a frog and they would have a contest. So he went to get him a frog and while Jim was gone the man fed Daniel Webster a truck full of tools. When Jim Smiley got back they had the jumping contest and the strangers jumped first but only a bit, but when Daniel Webster tried to jump he fell down and the other man said I told you so and he ran away with the money then Jim's frog barfed up all the tools. That's the story of the Celebrated Frog Jumping Contest of Calaveras County!

this story was writen by mark twain it was about jim smiley betening on everthing he bet on everone and everthing until one day he found afrog and got it. he named the frog daneil webster. Daneil could out jump any animal.smiley risked 40$ and lost the race

Their once was a place called Calaveras county where a man named Mr.smiley found a frog that could jump really far so he bet people his frog could jump farther than any other frog. He bet any one that questioned the frog. One day a man came along and bet Mr.smiley that he could win with a normal frog, but the problem was he didn't have a frog to bet with so Mr.smiley went and got him one. while he was gone the man fed Mr.smileys frog so he would be slow and he could win the race The man took the money and left.

Thats what happened in Calaveras county.

There was a man in Calaveras county his name was Jim Smily he bet on everything even stuff that didn't make sense and he was found a frog and wanted to make the best jumper in the county. Smily was training the frog a bunch to become a good jumper and used the frog to win bets and got lots of money. but one time he bet a guy but the guy didn't have a frog so Smily left finding a frog for him and when he came back they the other frog one and the guy took the money and left but smily barfed out stuff and the frog didn't jump because the other guy fed the frog to much. and he never cuaght the man but that's the story of how Claveras county frog jumping contest started

Its about a guy in County Calaveras named Jim Smiley who would bet for anything at all. Such as cat fights, dog fight, chicken fights, etc. Then one day he found a frog who was an amazing jumper! He could out jump any frog that crossed his path like it was nothing at all. Until a man showed up and bet that he could win in a frog jumping contest if Smiley found him a frog, so he did. But Smiley frog lost and ran away so miley ran after the frog but never caught it.

This is a story about a man who loved to bet on anything, anytime, anywhere, anyway this mans name is Jim Smiley. One day Jim found a frog, a normal frog, Jim Smiley was determined to train this frog to be the best jumping frog in the town! After a little while the frog could out jump about any frog, so one day a man asked Jim about his frog and why it was so special. Jim told the man all about the frog, but the man thought of that as a joke, Jim bet the man 40 dollars to PROVE that his frog could jump farther. Jim went to get the man a frog and while he was gone the man fed the frog a whole lot of stuff. When Jim came back he did not know that the man had fead the frog lots of things, so both of the frogs were placed on the floor to jump. Jim’s frog did not jump, so the other frog had won, the man took the 40 dollars and went well on his way. A few moments later Jim’s frog coughed up LOTS of random items from around the town! Jim was very upset, so Jim had gone all around the town searching angrily for the man, but he was never found. The End!

The story is based on a man from Calaveras county, his name is Jim Smiley. He would always bet on anything, such as: horse races, dog fights, cat fights, and chicken fights. Jim Smiley then caught a frog that day, and said all the frog wanted was a education. So he could do most anything. He would bet on himself that his frog could out jump any frog and he was right. One day a stranger came along and said "what you got in that box there?" Jim Smiley then said it was a frog and it could beat anyone in a jump race. Jim Smiley then put money down for a bet but his frog wouldn't jump. Jim then realized that the stranger fed his frog a bunch of tools. Jim then tried to go after that man but never got to him. Once there was a man names Jim Smiley who lived Calaveras County. He bet on anything even if he could lose but he didn't care. He bet on horse races, dog fights, cat fights and even chicken fights. And one day he caught a frog. He wanted the frog to be the best jumper in the county. He said the frog wanted education and he believed he could do anything. One day a stranger came along and said "what you got in that box?" Smiley replied "its only just a frog". Smiley told the stranger that he could out jump any frog in the county. And so smiley bet him forty dollars he could. And the stranger agreed. But the stranger didn't have a frog so Smiley got one for him, but while he was getting a frog the stranger gave Daniel tools to eat. Ans so when Smiley put the frogs to race they other frog won because Daniel couldn't go far. So the stranger took the money and ran, Smiley tried to get him but he couldn't find him. THE END!!!!!!!

Their is storey is about a man named Jim smiley from Calaveras County. He was once a very mysterious man he liked to bet on any thing any where even animal fights. One day Jim was strolling along a path and came a cross a frog he jumped and caught it!This frog was normal but Jim told the frog he was going to make it win the frog jumping contest! So he tried to teach it what to do. The frog made a huge jump and Jim smiley was so confidence he was going win the contest he made a bet to some stranger that his frog will beat any others. The stranger didn't believe him, so Jim got home a frog and they raced them. It turns out the strangers frog did tiny jumps to finally win but Jim's frog just sat their and didn't move a muscle. He was so confused but all of a sudden the frog barfed tons of random stuff that he ate. Jim was so mad he took off trying to find the stranger but he never did.
The End!!!!
