Building Self-Confidence: Fighting to be the Best You!

Our blog this week is all about self-confidence. Take a minute to actually think about that for a minute. What does self-confidence mean or look like to you? Is it being able to talk to a teacher about something that’s bothering you? Is it standing up in front of the class, the school and sharing something? Is it standing up to someone who is being a bully or rude to someone else? However you define it, self-confidence is key to living a fulfilling life and the more we can develop our self-confidence (not pride or boastfulness), the happier we tend to find ourselves as well as those around use. For your task this week, I want you to visit the following link to lifehack.org and read through the 22 quotes they have posted on self-confidence. Choose the two that spoke most to you and write them down in the comments below. Beside each one, explain why you chose that quote and how you are going to use it to help you develop more self-confidence.

I chose the first one because it is very true, nobody is perfect no matter how hard they try. I chose the second one because it is also very true, if you don't believe in yourself than you won't be able to achieve anything

"Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself" this quote really spoke to me because I think it is saying that you shouldn't change yourself for what other people think because the real you is the most beautiful thing ever.

"You were born to be real not to be perfect" this quote also spoke to me because it is saying that nobody is perfect.

The 2 quotes that spoke to me were when you doubt your power you give power to your doubt

And the quote ,believe you can and halfway there because I always try to believe in myself when things are hard and it helps me 50% of the time and the one above that connects to me because I soemtimes doubt myself and realize now that it's giving more power to my doubt

1. "Insecurity kill dreams more than failure ever will"
I picked this quote because it tells you that you shouldn't be afraid to fail because if you don't fail you will be insecure and that makes you feel worse

2." Self- Confidence is the best outfit rock it and own it "
If you don't have self confidence It changes your identity. If you do have self confidence it completely changes your identity it is like wearing a completely new outfit

1. When you doubt your power you give power to your doubt
because if you doubt you think it is too hard you will never do it.
2.I am the Greatest, I said that even before i knew i was This spoke to me because you should think you are great than you will be great

The 2 quotes I chose:

`If you live off of man`s compliments, you`ll die from criticism`
I love this quote because if you have a lot people saying that your good at a sport or your really pretty etc and you only believe their comments, then one person says that your horrible at the sport or your not pretty you might believe them and become very insecure and no longer become self confident.

`Stop beating yourself up. You are a work in progress; you get there a little at a time, not all at once.
I chose this quote because it applies to me, I try to be perfect at everything right when I try it, and then if I am not good I never try it again. So I love this quote because it is a reminder to me and a great quote in general.

(by the way my computer was being dumb and wouldn't let me add punctuation other than periods.

one that I chose is "Self-confidence is the best outfit,rock it and own it." i chose this one because it says clothing doesn't define your character.

another one I chose is "I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was " (Muhammad Ali said that). I also chose this one because it says that confidence is the key to success.

2. "Nothing holds you back more than your own insecurities"

I picked number one because I thought that you have to be your own person and believing in yourself gives you confidence.

I picked number two because I don't believe you should let fear stop you from new experiences.

tomorrow i am going to great wolf loge and i have to finish all my homework today. i was stressed at first but then i started to think to myself i could do it. it really helped and i,m starting to feel more confident i haven't finished my home work thought at the moment

I liked this quote because I feel that no matter how hard someone tries they can never be perfect so it doesn't matter if you make a mistake you can just try your best.

2."Self-confidence is the best outfit,rock it and own it."
I feel like this quote spoke to me because it is so true! It doesn't matter if you are wearing rags or wearing a nice suit,if you have self-confidence then that is the thing that they will see.

I only found one that i liked "Don't look back your not going that way"
Meaning:
How many times in our lives do we look back? While we are waiting for God to show us the next move - we look back. Why do we think that we have missed something and need to look back at where we were? Looking back is not in God’s agenda for us. In Philippines 3:14 Paul told us to press on. Pressing on means going forward; not looking back. We cannot press on towards the goal if we have our head turned in the wrong direction.

Two quotes I choose...
1. Believe you can and you're half way there. If I believe I can do it then I'm almost done. This will help me in school to accomplish my objectives.

2. You have to believe in yourself when no one else does - that makes you a winner right there. Why I chose this quote is because it states if no one else believes in me that doesn't mean I shouldn't believe in myself. How I'm going to use this quote is when I play water polo even when the game is not going well, I won't give up on myself and still do my best, even if no one else believes in me.

Two quotes I chose were:

1. The quickest way to acquire self-confidence is to do exactly what you're afraid to do. I live by this quote because when I have fears. Such as, when I have to preform/talk in front of a big audience my insecurities try to get the best of me; but then there's a small voice in the back of my mind that just says. "You know this is a false sense of fear, you should only be afraid in your in real danger," and I follow that voice and just go out there. Boosting my self-confidence and lowering down the fear.

2. You were born to be real, not to be perfect. This quote makes me think on my past memories were I wanted things to be 'perfect', but in reality; that never happens. Life would be bland and boring without the bumps and obstacles. Actually, People would hate a person who is perfect, I bet that's the reason why we have friends and why we have enemies. Friends will enjoy your imperfections and maybe enemies will hate it. If everything was perfect and you were always happy, would it dawn upon you that you have never frowned, or never been yelled at? It would be a very bland and boring life.

Hello, well if you did not know my name just call me Cam, but i'm not gonna sit here and waist my time on telling you about my name i'm going to be sharing something a bit more interesting, I would say. Okay scratch that the Quote I chose from many was a very powerful, and it really stood out to me in life. The Quote was, "Be confident. Too many days are wasted comparing our selves to others and wishing to be something we aren't. Everybody has their own strengths and weaknesses and its only when you accept everything you are - and aren't - That you will truly succeed. Why I chose this Quote was because I always are comparing my selves to other wether they are better than me or not as good as me, and I always are wishing to be something that i am not, and some people are better than me at things and i'm better than some people at things but just compare you to you, and don't get down wether you are the best or not so great and most important be confident. Alrighty then, Im out.

I liked a lot of the quotes and it was hard to pick two, but I think I will go with:

"Self confidence is the best outfit, rock it and own it."

I chose this one because like Mr. Steltman said confidence isn't cockiness. In your mind your outfit can be super cool looking but to the world it is just loud and a fashion mistake, or you can wear something simple, and elegant and everyone admires you. Confidence should be like the simple, elegant outfit --- it should attract others and earn praise without being flashy and showy.

And I chose: "Stop beating yourself up you are a work in progress; which means you get there a little at a time not all at once."
This quote spoke to me because it reminded me how frustrated I get when I am trying to draw a picture or build something and it isn't coming out how I want it to. I know this does not mean I will not achieve my goals, it just means I have to slow down, be patient and believe in myself.

Self confidence is being confident to try new things, even if you don't know about it. It is having belief in your self that no matter who you are you can do anything.
