Bloggin' about Bees!

5/19/2016

I was a at a conference this past weekend and I had the opportunity to hear George Scott from @niagarabeeway speak.  He was extremely knowledgeable about bees and so much more.  His information was scary though.  We are losing bees due to a poison that we put into the ground. This poison (neonicotinoids) are going into the ground and killing the bees.   As I was thinking about your blog this week, I thought about bees; tiny, yet extremely powerful.  Bees, by working together make a huge difference.  This reminded me of our class, we may be young, we may not have our driver's licenses yet but we are powerful and we can make a difference when we work together.  For you task this week, I want you to get outside and do one amazing thing for the environment.  For your blog post, write about what it is that you chose, why you did that and how helping makes you feel.  Let’s be the like the bees.  Let’s make a difference!

I think I am going to clean up all litter and robin chick corpses (99% their organs exposed. Yuucckkk!) It will actually make a difference for the environment, because litter and dead bodies releases a kind of gas that affects the ozone layer. So if I collect litter and corpses (Yuck!), it actually helps the environment. Bye!

I needed to do something BIG considering I havn't done a blog post in a while and didn't listen to my parents for a while... ANYWAYS what I am going to do is go to everybody around my block and water their plants and do another block and ANOTHER ONE! Until it turns to night...I hope this will help their own little environment and at least do something that will help... and a quote...

"I don't want to protect the enviornment...I want to create a world were the enviornment doesn't need protecting"

Thx!

I can help the environment by trying to fix things before buying new items. Right now I am thinking of buying a new headset because my old headset's microphone is broken. What I am going to do is buy a detachable mic so I can still use my current headset. By fixing my headset, I am preventing it from getting into the garbage. Another option would be to donate to sick kids because kids in this hospital can still use this for video games if they have the right console. This is the amazing thing I did for the environment.

Helping the environment feels normal because I don't see any difference in the state of the earth.

To make a difference this week, I was going to pick up litter. But I ended up planting veggies in my garden instead, I also went for a walk with my dogs for like 2-3 hours. And i picked up litter at Neyagawa Prk on Monday! Here's 3 quotes...
1. If the bee disappears from the earth, man would have no more than four years to live.
- Albert Einstein
2. Someone who thinks death is the scariest thing, doesn't know a thing about life.
- Sue Monk Kidd
3. Hope is the only bee that makes honey without flowers

When I watched the video, I was very interested because seeing the bees are a very big impact. This week I helped my parents plant some more flowers so the bees can collect there pollen and do there magic. Also, Last weekend I have be seeing the bees collect the pollen and bringing it back to there hive. Every time I see that I always think about the problem with them. To end this blog post for this week, I would like to say a really big thank you for the people that are trying to save this very important cause and really big impact to save the world that we all love.LET'S BRING BACK THE BEES!!!!!!

After watching this video I knew that I needed to do something. Sometimes we don't realize that even the smallest things can make a difference, like bees. bees are small creatures and usually when you think of them you think about how they are these fluffy flying things that are trying to sting you, but what you don't realize is that they only sting if you annoy them and they help the environment. bees transfer pollen and seeds from flower to another which makes the plant be able to grow and produce food. Anyways for this week's blog post

I went outside to my backyard and planted 1 tree and 10 flowers and picked up any garbage I saw outside. When I was walking last weekend I saw these two people picking up garbage that was on the floor which really inspired me to do it too.

remember...."Take care of the earth, and it will take care of you!"

I am allergic to bees and I wanted to kill all the bees because I hated them but know I learned about bees and know I want to protect the bees and help them. So I will not listing to my parents when the say "Aidan spit your gum out the window" and try not to kill no bees and help them and don't get stain by bees.

Bye!!

After watching this video I knew that I wanted to start to help out by planting flowers and picking up litter! I believe that the smallest thing can make a huge impact on the world. I also believe that if we start now we can bring back the honey bees and many other animals who are almost extinct!

On the weekend my family and I started to plant flowers to make our garden look a lot nicer and to attract more honey bees and butterflies. We also plan to plant a few more flowers in the next few weeks that honey bees love. After I worked on the flower gardens this weekend I felt very proud of myself. It may not have been a huge thing to do but it still made an impact on the world in a positive way!

I found this quote about the bee's "No Bees, No Honey, No Work, No Money."

I think that this quote is saying that we need bee's to survive!

I've already seen this video many times but mainly as an add on youtube. I never really understood why they chose cheerios as an example, but I do understand that they are trying to send out a message to everybody to help them out. Bee's are important. I am definitely afraid of them because there scary and I just don't like them but that doesn't mean we have to kill them.

This week I decided to do 2 things to make a difference in the environment. I decided to walk or ride my bike to wherever I was going to as long as it wasn't really far away. I also planted a couple trees out in the wilderness. I did this because even though the trees will take a long long time to grow but once they grow the trees will help a lot of live's since tree's give's us oxygen. I chose to walk or ride my balk instead of having my mom or dad drive me is because cars give pollution and pollution can ruin the environment and can make people sick and can kill trees and other plants and animals. Helping out this week made me feel proud and happy because I was making a difference and I was making the environment better even though what I did was fairly small.

To end this here is a quote "We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, but we borrow it from our children". That quote was by the Native Americans.

Ok I'm done. TOODLES!

This week had such good weather, which means going outside! For this weeks blog post, I did 2 small things to help nature and bees, to create a better place for us to live in.

1.The first small thing I did was walking or riding my bike to places, like the park, to the store, to a friend's house, this helps the earth, by eliminating pollution in the air from cars, and it also let's you take some time to get some fresh air, and to enjoy the weather!

2. The second thing I did was plant some flowers in my backyard. This helps bees because one of their main jobs is to pollunate flowers, I'm making their jobs easier, so they can help us.

Remember, although you hear that you should fear bees, they have a huge role in giving us fresh food and helping us live, bees are part of our biodiversity, so save the bees!

This week I thought really hard to think about what I can do to help the bees and the environment

Then I remembered a couple weeks ago that my dad had gotten potting soil and flowers to plant I asked my mom if I can start planting them and she helped me, together we made the earth a better place step by step.

When I planted these flowers I felt that I had made a difference and now bees have a better environment ton live in.

Update, the flowers are: Yellow,Red and Pink

What I did to help our environment was I realized that the ravine had a lot of garbage in it. I decided to take action and start cleaning up because animals could come along and eat it and choke and die. I really really don't want that to happen so I cleaned up at least 200 pieces of garbage and I bet if you go down there you wont see the difference because there is so much in the ravine. I wish this would stop. It makes me feel good that I made a difference in the world.

This week I made sure that my garden is full of flowers. This means I save the bees by giving them as much pollen I can give. This is what i do to help.I also help maintain these plants. This is my post.

It is so sad that so many bees are dying. I never really thought about how much they provide for us, but now that I know some more I really want to help them. I have two things because they are small and if I did two it would make a better impact.

1. My first is small but as I started to think more about how it would help I knew I should do it. I am going to water the plants as much as I can so that they can get the nutrients from them to make food for us. The more plants we lose, the less food we will have. It's all connected because the bees pollinate the plan the plants, that then goes to food, the food goes to us.

2. My second way of making a difference is picking up any litter I see just flying around. If it's on my lawn, in the ravine I will pick it up. Litter is one of the biggest problems about the environment. It seems so weird that if anyone is just walking around with garbage they would just throw it onto the ground because I think that no one in this class would do that.

Even though bees are small they really help us. If you take a while to think about it you will know that they are powerful.

This week I decided to change things up and go outside and help my parents garden. Even though I hate gardening, I was helping the nature by planting some flowers and removing weeds and things that aren’t great.
Overall, planting flowers are bringing the honey bees back and it would help pollinate most of the things we eat. Without bees we as humans probably won't live for a long time. Anyways, by gardening and planting flower and all the other stuff, we could save the bees and our lives too!
So I am going to help garden and plant flowers (and possibly some food, at least I hope) to help and bring back the Honey Bees and help us live.

Bees: Little but mighty insects. People don't realize how much we need bees. They help pollinate flowers as well as make food. Without them we wouldn't have basic things like cherries, coffee, vanilla and basically a whole bunch of fruits and vegetables.

This weekend it was super hot. So I made a difference by walking and biking to nearby places. By doing that it helps limit the pollution as well as helping you get exercise.

My second thing I plant some new flowers. Which helps the bees pollinate the flowers. I also watered my plants so that the bees have all the nutrients, so my plants don't die. So more and more bees can come.

Remember things can be small but mighty. I would like to end this blog post with a fact from Albert Einstein...If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than 4 years to live.

It is so sad how fast bees are dying and I never knew this was even a problem until I watched this video. Once I watched this video I even saw commercials about it so its good how everyone is trying to make a difference by spreading awareness.

What I did to help contribute to the environment was to make a rain barrel just by taking an old storage bin, placed it outside and attached it to our eaves. By doing this I am saving water and energy and it all connects back to helping the environment and bees. Even though it won't be the best it most diffidently will help.

I also want to make sure no one uses a bee catcher, so every time I see someone I know using it I will try to persuade them not to.
I already have a few people in mind. Just remember one small action can make a big difference.

I never really thought about how many animals are becoming extinct, and now after this video, I realized that one species of animal can make a huge impact in our everyday lives. I never really thought that bees could do that much to help us but now that I know they help us so much I am going to try my best to help the environment. This week I am going to try and pick up garbage that I see around me. This might not seem very big but if everybody does something to help the environment then we wouldn't have global warming or earth problems. I want to pick up garbage because a lot of the reasons that animals are becoming extinct is because of the amount of garbage on the ground. If everybody just put their garbage in the garbage then we wouldn't have any problems.

Great Job!!!!!

This week it was nice outside so i'm gonna go and try to clean out the ravine next to my house not because it's our homework but because I feel like it and this will make me happy because i'm helping our environment plus there was a decent amount of garbage in there so that's why I want to try and clean out the ravine

There are a lot of animals that are already extinct and I don't want be to be extinct too.

It is very sad that the bees are dying.

When I was outside this last weekend I saw a bunch of dead bees on the ground and that made me very sad.

So I am going to do stuff to help the environment.

Here are the things I am going to do to help the environment.

1.The first thing I am going to do to help the environment is Picking up garbage when I am walking around.

2.The second thing I am going to do is try to walk around instead of going in a car as much as I can.

Doing little things can make a big difference.

Those are the two things that I am going to do to help the environment.

I think it is really bad that the bees are dying this quickly. They are a really important insect. I found that video really strong and I can really make people want to make a difference.

I will never litter. That is one of the big things killing animals because the wrapper gets caught on their leg.

Logan

After watching the video it's sad that the bees are dying because they may be small but they make a huge impact the world.

So this week I am going to pick up the litter or trash that someone leaves behind or misses the garage can.

I will also try to ride my bike to school more then get a ride but I am probably going to walk to school

Lucas

watching this video makes me so sad because watching all of these wonderful animals in horrible situation is just devastating. Watching this video makes me really wonder about how we treat these wonderful animals because the video makes it seem like we treat animals and their habitats pretty bad. A lot of people think that if you just take down a couple trees it wont matter but it is not just a couple of trees those are animals like squirrels and birds homes and how some animals find food to eat so the next time somebody cuts down a tree an animal just lost its home. To put this in perspective for you we are cutting down the amount of trees as the equivalent of 20 football fields a minute. That is just CRAZY! we humans are destroying trees and animals habitats so quickly it is just very very sad. Just take bees for example bees to most people are just pests that fly around in the air and sting you well that is most certainly not true. Bees are pollinators so they pollinate plants so they can bee able to grow. If you search up a picture of a grocery store without bees it is just astonishing to me to see that so many things are not their without bees.

1. The first thing that I did to help the environment this week is that when I had any time or when I was free I went outside and played whether it was throwing a baseball or playing basketball I was just out their enjoying the boutiful weather and having fun while also helping the environment. This helps the environment because instead of staying inside wasting energy by having the lights on some place or going on my I pad I am outside helping the environment.

2. The second thing that I did this week to help the environment is that when I was walking down the trail or just walking down the sidewalk and I saw a piece of garbage or recycling on the ground I made sure to pick it up. Now this is something that is so easy you can just do any time of the year even when it is not your specific goal just if you see some litter on the sidewalk it is not so hard to pick it up and put it in the trash. This will help the environment because garbage on the ground when it is not picked up it will just go into the ravine or into a forest and that is not good because it can make the water dirty and also an animal can eat it.

Little things like picking up garbage when you see it or going outside to play something instead of playing on your electronics can make a big difference hence the saying " little things make a big difference" Bees are just these little creatures but they are so important to this earth but they are dying because of us all the animals are dying and going extinct because of us and we need to change it because nobody else can and if we don't stop polluting and cutting down trees it will only get worse and animals will go extinct because of us.

Watching this commercial made me so sad because I realized that we are killing the bees and bees are extremely important to our food supply and to other animals food supply, I know a fact and that fact is that bees are responsible for 1/3 of the food that we eat. If bees go extinct that would be horrible and that would extremely limit our food and danger other animals food so those animals might go extinct and the animals that eat stuff that THAT animal produces will also go extinct and then we will go extinct because there is nothing left for us to eat so we will starve to death in a world of hatred and fire. So that shows why just one tiny little creature, like a bee, can make such a huge difference on if we survive or if we don't survive. So next time you see a bee, don't swap and machete at it, or kill it will a hard slap to the face, instead lead it to the closest flower so it can make the food that we eat, and the food that the world eats. For this blog post we are sup post to say one thing that we will do this week to help the environment be safe and beautiful so without further ado here is what I will do this week to help the environment.

What I will do this week to help the environment is I will plant some flowers for the bees to pollinate and here are 3 reasons why I will do this

1. The first reason I will do this is because it will help the bees pollinate more flowers and that will allow them to make more food and when I plant flowers it will also help the bees have food so they won't die of starvation and they will be able to live longer and pollinate more flowers. This will also help the bees Because if not to many people plant flowers any more than how will the bees pollinate the flowers, so the bees need are help I that is one reason why I will plant flowers.

2. The second reason is because it makes Nature look so beautiful with all the vibrant colours and the thin green stem rising up above the ground holding the delicate pedals of the flower while the pedals shine a beautiful vibrant colour, there is something so unique about the simple flower and I would want to see lots, and lots of them around my neighbourhood and that is the second reason that I will plant flowers.

3. The last reason that I will say why I while plant flower (although there are many more reason why you should plant flowers) is that there are lots of flowers, trees, rivers being taken away because of construction and pollution and planting more flowers would be good because I am planting the flowers that got taken away because of Construction and pollution. That is the 3rd reason why I will plant flowers.

That is what I will do to help the environment this week, what will you do?

-Noah

This week for our homework we needed to do something good for the environment well you maybe wondering what did I do well I'll tell you now.

I needed to help the environment is some way this week so today with my cousin went outside to pick up garbage when we were done we had a but load of garbage that we picked up. after we finished we put it in the trash in the park ware people should put it it is latterly 4 feet away they can just walk to the garbage and put it their wear it go's.

I know what I did was just a little think but its all the little things that make a difference.

I also know this was a small blog post but I don't really have that much time and its better then not doing it at all.
