A Bird's Eye View

Watch the following video. Choose one character from this video and write down what happens from that character’s perspective. The birds do all look similar but choose one based on where they are in the line or you can choose the big bird. Tell the whole story but from the first-person perspective of that character. What are they thinking in their heads as everything happens? This will help you practice your narrative writing skills. Pay close attention though, the birds never speak but they do make their feelings clearly known. Think what would be going through their heads!

I chose the first one that appeared on the line. I chose it because of how it was first and how every bird kept coming on and that irritated it because of them hogging the space and fighting him.

He or she is probably thinking it is funny so (s)he is encouraging the birds that are pecking big birds toes, than (s)he realizes what will happen if big bird falls so (s)he tells the other birds to stop, but it is to late and they all go up and plummet to the ground without their feathers. After they are on the ground all of the birds probably regret being mean to the big bird because now they know what it feels like to be bullied and laughed at

I woke up just to hear my 9 siblings squabbling because of the telephone line that they were on. "It's too small", "move over" , "you are such a hog". I had had enough I decided fly away to somewhere quiet where they wouldn't follow me so I flew across town. Sure enough 1 of them followed me and I was angry, so when I found out that all of them had followed me I was furious.

That was when I heard a familiar squawk, it was that annoying bird that was my neighbor but we had to move because he just wouldn't be quiet

Everyone stopped and looked at him. We mocked him at first but then things got ugly. When we returned to our conversations and he butted in. He was so heavy that we all got clumped in the center of the line and we couldn’t get away. Than he flipped upside down and we saw that all of his toes could be pecked and he would fall. My sister and I pecked his toes until there was one left. My brother realized that once that toe was gone we would be propelled off the line. I stopped but it was too late, before I knew it I was in the air an all of my feathers were gone. When I fell to the ground that annoying bird was fine and laughing at me and my siblings.

It was a horrible day.

The bird I chose was the big bird.

Oh look new birds are coming, maybe they want to be friends. I think I will join them on the line. Hey they are talking about me! I want to get closer to them. I will go right in the middle of the action on the line. Ouch, why are they pecking me? Maybe they are playing with me. Oh no I can't hold on much longer. I have to let go. Where did all my friends go? Here is one of my friends with no feathers, and there are all his buddies. They look funny, I think they want to hide behind me.

I was having a nice afternoon soar when my wing started to hurt. I found the nearest line and sat down next to another one of my species. He immediately reacted to me sitting down and I realized that he had woke up on the wrong feather. Soon we were accompanied by all the birds of my kind in the town but oh god his reaction to them coming he even called the big bird in town.

BIG BIRD!!!!!! so i was just flying loving life then i saw some small birds just well talking on a telephone line. So i'm like i should start to socialize with so other bird so i went over there and then they just started laughing so i was like what but they just laughing and making faces. So i just jumped on and then they hit my fingers or something and i was slipping till i was on my last finger again sorry i don't know what its called so i fell like 2 cm and the small birds all fell and were naked i laugh so hard THE END!!!!!

(big bird) I saw a group of small birds and i wanted to join them. I sat on the electric line with the other birds. the birds were immediately friendly with me because they cuddled with me. after that we played a game where i was hanging of the line. after that they had so much fun they lost there feathers!

I was chill-axing on a telephone pole when these little squealers came popping onto my telephone pole. the first squealer popped on and then the second, the second one squished the first one and they started arguing saying "hey get of my line" "you filthy rat your filling the line up with dust". then two other birds came on and then another and then it just kept going on and on, arguing pushing squealing. I finally had to say something because it was going on and it wouldn't stop. I said "hiagghh" and they all started laughing and giggling, so popped on the pole and and it just sunk. Then they all started squealing at me, pecking, and telling me to get off. Then one of the squealers pecked me and flung me almost of the line and i was holding on by my 10 little fingers. So they started pecking at my fingers until there was one left. My head was basically touching the ground and i was holding on with all my mighty strength, but there was not enough. I fell then all the little birdies sprung up into the air and lost all their feathers then they all fell to the ground naked and afraid. Then I started crackling up watching each of the little squealers fall to in shame.Then the rest of the day was good.

I was on my way to my nest when I felt a little bit tired, I rested on the post to see my best friends all coming on to the wire! What a coincidence! I say "Hello!" and they immediately react by making me some space! How kind of them! But I wanted to make them feel happier and much closer to me so I came dead right in the middle. They seemed to be a little annoyed so I thought I'd crack a little futurama joke. "Hurray for Dr. Zoidberg, Hurray for Dr. Zoidberg!"
I found out that they didn't like my joke because one of them pecked me. As I was still in character I went 'WUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUB!' as I fell down still holding onto the line and my best friends started giving me a foot rub! How nice of them! It actually hurt a little though and when they were on the last toe, they stopped.
I slipped off the line and hit the ground, and as I hit the the ground it started raining! Raining blue feathers! Then, my favouritest bird of all came down naked! HAHAHAHAHAH! I laughed.
Then all of my feathery friends came down and were all naked.
HAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHHAHAAHAHHAHAHA
They all hid behind me in embarest faces

Again I chose the bird that first realizes what will happen if big bird falls.

It is a beautiful day in the country, sun is up everything is quiet, so I decide to take a nice morning flight. I have been flying for about 5 minutes when I hear a commotion coming from the line. I fly over and see Bob and Joe fighting on , the wire soon there are 10's of bird landing on the wire so I think to my self ' why not' as I reach a spot on the wire Big Bird comes and wants to hang out with us. " oh no" I say to some of the birds around me. Big Bird comes and tries to sit on the wire sinking to the ground. Bob and Joe peck his toes and we all laugh. Than it hits me, If Big Bird falls than we all go up and fall to the ground. I warned everyone around me and than they warn everyone around them, but it's to late we all bounce up and tumble to the ground, our feathers everywhere. I am the first to hit the ground, Big Bird laughs hysterically at us and hands me a leaf to cover up, I run behind him embarrassed and everyone joins me. Now I know what he felt when we laughed at him. I think I've learned my lesson.

(Big Bird) Wow those little fellas are hilarous. I was just trying to be apart of their pipsqueak army when I flipped upside down. They all just stared at me but then they started to peck my feet! I was just like whoa is this an annual ritual for the new guy that joins? Anyhow they got my last toe off the rope and I fell so,so,so far! It was like an inch! The midgets all went skyrocketing up in the air and when they finally came down they all were looking like pink beach balls! I laughed my beak off that day. Wow what a day.

(small bird) I was flying around minding my own business, when I saw my buddies yelling at each other on the telephone wire. I flew down to see what was going on, as my feet were just about to land.. Bam! One guy just slammed right into me, then another one slammed into me! All I saw was feathers everywhere and squeaking, I kept on bumping into everyone until something loud broke the fight. "Hey!" We all turned our heads to see a huge bright blue bird, gosh was he weird looking. Suddenly, the guy next to me did a great impression of that big bird, next thing you know I was laughing my beak off. That buffoon ruined it by going on our telephone wire, he was so heavy that he almost broke it! Now, I was really mad, but suddenly; one of my buddies jammed his beak right into one of the big birds feathers. Even though I didn't do it, it still felt good. Then, one of the big buffoon's toes came off of the telephone wire; I squeaked first, then everyone was squeaking for the birds that were pecking the toes. Suddenly I noticed something, if the big bird's last toe came off; then we will be slingshot-ed! Panicking, I squeaked as loud as I could and pushed my buddy so he could stop; but it was too late. The toe slipped off and we slingshot-ed into the blue sky. I closed my eyes as I fell to the ground, I opened my eyes only to hear the laughter of the big bird; looking down I noticed that I was bare naked! Covering myself with my wings, I ran to the back of the big bird. I guess this is karma.

I chose the second bird on the line.......

As I was on my daily stroll in the clouds I started to huff and puff
and I decided it was a good time for a break so I looked for a
telephone wire that looked comfy I finally found one and sure enough
my bestie Billy Bob was on the same wire right beside me and all of
a sudden our conversation was not important anymore because the
telephone wire was filling up like nobody's business.
All of the wrestling finally stopped when we heard a huge noise
and it was a HUGE bird. It quickly flew over and invaded the line we
begged it to let go and finally she did we all went flying and when I landed with a thud I was naked.

(Big bird) As I was flying around in the sky I see all these little birds fighting with each other and I go see what all the arguing was about.
When I landed on the telephone pole I said "Hey" and all the birds looked at me and I waved, one of the birds made an impression of me and all of the other birds laughed and then they did impressions of me too. After they were laughing they all moved half way down the telephone pole. Then they started to whisper to each other and look at me and stare, so I flew over and I sat right in the middle and the telephone pole started to slowly fall down to the ground and one of the birds pecked me and I fell forward and then the bird started to peck at my foot and I slowly let one at a time of my toes fall off the line. As they were pecking one other bird noticed that if I fell off they would go flying up in the air so that one bird told the other birds and they tried to stop the bird that was pecking at me, but when he noticed it was to late and I fell off and they went flying. All of a sudden I see feathers falling from the sky and then I see one bird fall and he had no feathers and then I see all the other birds fall too. Then I start laughing my head off because they all don't have feathers!!!

So I see miles and miles of quiet telephone lines and I think I can sit for a while and have some alone time. But no! Along comes my stupid brother Bob and he sits almost on top me. I am so angry. I just wanted to be alone. Then along comes some other idiot and sits on the other side of me and before I know it there is a whole bunch of guys hanging on MY telephone line. As if that isn't bad enough some weird looking, stupid looking, goofy bird flies in and is looking at us. We laugh at him, but then he has the nerve to come stand right in the middle of all of us -- and because today is my unlucky day --- he sits right next to me. The stupid goofy bird is now hanging from MY telephone wire. So this dude has the idea to start pecking at the stupid bird's claws. So I peck the heck out of his claws, then the next thing I know I am sailing in the air. I go so fast my feathers fly straight off of me and the idiot bird laughs at my naked body. Today was not my day. Next time I will find a hole in the ground to hide and have my quiet time.

As I sore through the air finding somewhere to land I find a magnificent telephone line, and decided that would be my spot for the day. But suddenly my brother decided that would be his spot. I start to peck but he pecks back I chirp not meaning anything but then our other brothers and sisters come onto the same telephone wire! They thought it was a game so they started pecking and chirping too until all of us get really annoyed and then started to actually try to hurt each other. We all herd a mystrerious noise,We looked to our left and there stood a tall weird looking bird laughing at us! We started to mimic him. I would do it and then the rest of my brothers and sisters would. Finally the big bird came and sat right beside me. He fell and I decided to peck at his feet. But just as I realized, I was flying in the air and came down with no feathers... I was naked. The big bird laughed and thats how my journey ended tomorrow I'll pick a better place!

my perspective is on the big bird that is super heavy ,I end up missunderstands and thinks the birds are fine with me sitting but then the birds are mean and lower me to the ground but luckily im tallso im barely a inch of the ground ,then i fall but im fine then suddenly its raining feathers and i reaised it was like a rubber band cause i crated torque and they flung and landed naked ......its awesome being a bidg birdie

The big bird
I was just flying around in the nice, warm and sunny weather, but then I noticed that there was birds just sitting onto the telephone line. I went to check it out and they were all giggling for some unknown reason, and then I started laughing. After a little bit a whole flock of birds came charging on the line, and we all made loud noises. Unexpectedly this utterly large blue bird appeared and started talking to us, then it flew on the line, but when it did the line broke and the blue bird was hanging on. We decided to make more room for us, so we poked the blue birds hands, until it fell, but our feathers flew off and the blue bird was laughing so much, that we just walked away in shame.

i chose the big bird
i saw some of my fellow birds sitting on wire so i decided to go see them and say hi. They seemed to be fighting about something... oh well il go say hi maybe it will calm them down. I sat down on the other side of the wire and said 'hi' then they all started trying to look like me but smaller. I said it again 'hi' but they just moved away i decided to go and sit with them across and i sat in the middle of them and they all bunched up with me in the middle but then one of them bit me but it didn't hurt that much but it did hurt so i fell backwards and was hanging on by my feet. Then they started hitting my toes and they came off but they didn't notice that they would get flung in the air when i came off. i let go of the wire and the birds got flung in the air like i though they would. when they came down all their feathers were gone and they were trying to cover up. i started laughing so hard and they hid behind me. the end

The big bird

As i fly by i see all these birds and i said " hi " one of them made a big face like a giant bird. So i decided to join them so i hopped on the middle of the line where there was space. They all stared at me then started making noise so i decided to do that too then one bird just pecked me in the stomach. Then i fell down with my claws still on the wire. Then out of no where they started pecking me i guess it was for a celebration but then i fell 1 cm when all the little birds went as the speed of light. After every bird was coming down naked then i laugh out loud(LOL)
