Parody Game of CHAIRS!

4/9/2015

This week, Sesame Street put out a parody of “Game of Thrones” which they titled “Game of Chairs”, and it has been generating a lot of buzz (over 1.5 million YouTube hits in 2 days).  A parody, by definition, is a “humorous imitation of a serious piece of literature…” (dictionary.com), but can really be a take on anything popular or well known (there were LOTS of “do you want to build a snowman” parodies that were coming out a few years ago, and Harry Potter before that).  It’s interesting how people can take an idea from a more serious form of text or media, and put a comedic spin on it to create something new.

Now considering that Sesame Street is a kids program, and Game of Thrones most definitely is not, why do you think Sesame Street would create a parody of that particular show? Why do you think it has become so popular in just a few short days?  If you had to come up with your own parody, what would you spoof?  Try to think of a creative title and a few details of what your parody would include.  For your blog post this week, post your thoughts on the video Sesame Street put out as well as your ideas for your own parody.

So if I were to do a parody it would probably be of like a song or something like me and Danielle sorta made one of "There she goes, Fame" and is called "Farm but we didn't finish so yeah.

BTW I have no comment on the video

I think that this was a good idea because most parents watch tv with their kids, so this would make it a bit more intersting for the adults and still be age appropriate for the kids

I didn't have any ideas for a parody but I found another sesame street one for Catching Fire and it's pretty funny

1) The reason sesame street put that so they can get advertisement for Sesame Street and Game of Thrones.

2) Here are some. 1. Busted Dweeber (Juster Beiber) this one is just for fun. 2. Dropping Water (Catching Fire) It's about a boy who is a waiter and keep dropping the water. 3. Pokey Man (Pokemon) There lived a trainer name Pikachu and his partner Ash. Will Pikachu catch them all?

"Hoppit" Thats what i'll call it it would be about a bunny which helps rabbits to defeat the ground hog so that they can get thier golod back.( Rabbits = the dwarfs and Bunny= the hoppit

I think that Sesame Street is making a parody of more mature movies because they are trying to make the more inappropriate shows kid-friendly. I think it turned popular in a short amount of time because Sesame Street is originally a very popular kids show and Game of Thrones is a very mature movie so because Sesame Street turned such a violent movie into a funny kid parody people probably wanted to see how it turned out.

If I were to make a parody of something it would be about Frozen and Elsa would be a master of gaming and run away because her parents told her to study and threw away her Xbox 1.

I think that Sesame Street made a video about game of thrones because when people search up game of thrones on youtube, you see sesame street! 'Why would this pop up?" *click* And the sharing and liking and viewing go off the charts.
If I were to make a parody of something I would make it about... Dexter :D The friendly neighborhood serial killer :)

I thought that this video was pretty funny and had a great plot twist in the end :)

I think that sesame street wanted to create a parody of The Game Of Thrones because it is kind of out of the ordinary and weird that a kids T.V. show would create a parody of something so un-kid like.
And it became popular soooo fast because there are a lot of audiences that this is targeted to.

If I were to make a parody it would be to :
Love is an open door and it would be called Love is an open fridge

I think they did the parody because parents might be watching with their kids
I couldn't think of a parody but I found this parody of the hunger gamer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eT7nD02Im5E

I think they would put up a parody of an adult program because kids don't watch it so maybe they could get a little perspective of what the show is like without having to go through all the mature stuff.
I think it became popular because little kids... they love sesame street and thats why it would get so popular.
If I could make a parody it would probably be a parody of Immortals by Fall Out Boy. I looked in the suggestions for the blog post and found another parody that sesame street made called 'Star S'mores' and you can guess what its a parody of.

I think sesame street would post something like that to grab more peoples attention so that the might start to watch some of their other videos. Then they would get more subscribers and become more popular to youtube. If I had to make a parody it would probably be of the show the walking dead but instead I would call it the flying dead.

i think a parody would be just like a song and also probably kids don't watch it so maybe they could put it in maybe a little perspective of what the show having to be like without having through mature stuff

Sandra

I think it became popular in a few days because Game Of Thrones is a very popular television show that adults watch, and Sesame Street was apart of their childhood so combined them together and you get a very popular video.
I especially enjoyed all the references in this video.

If I did a parody it would be based off of maybe a classic book, such as the three musketeers would be the three chefs or maybe something like that.

I think they make a parody on a kids show on game of thrones because in some peoples opinions it is a boring kids show but to bring something like game of thrones a really inappropriate show they use it to try to bring more and more people in to it. I don't really have a parody idea

I think Sesame Street made a parody so they can get more famous and popular. The little kids would know the show better and get more viewers to see it.

If I had a parody I would name it close the doors instead of open the doors because I do not like the movie Frozen at all. So instead of open the doors it would be close the doors. If I got to do more of frozen parodies ,I would do "let it stop" instead of let it go.

I think the Game of Chairs became popular because it was a little funny how Grover became king. I think people remember Seasame Street from when they were kids and just look at the Game of Chairs because it is silly and reminds them of this childhood show.

If I had to do a parody I would do a parody on the song All about the Base. It would go something like "It's all about the cute ;bout the cute ... lil bunny. It's all about the cute, about the cute lil bunny. I'm bringing bunnies back ... they're cuter than your stupid cat. Tell all those goofy dogs that ... every bunny is so perfect from their noses to their hop. I would make up this parody because I like the song All about the Base, but I think they shouldn't sing about people's bodies.

I think that a kids tv program (in this case Sesame Street), would make a parody to an adult game because, they want to prove that they can create things for all ages, not just for children.
I think it became popular so quickly because, adults figure wow they can make some things other than that kid stuff. Also adults may find it funny. Kids could also enjoy it and think of it as musical chairs!
If I had to make a parody it would be of albatrouz because I think it would be funny and that song is very popular.

I think that the Sesame Street video is a little weird but good for younger kids. If I did a parody it would be about the song Uptown Funk because a lot of people like it and a lot of people know about that song.

The reason why I think that sesame street would do a parody of game of thrones is because it would attract both kids (because it is sesame street) and grown ups(because of the game of thrones part) and the more people watching, the more money.

I think it became super popular in just a few days because, as I said before, both kids and grown ups would watch it.

If I did a parody of anything, I would do a parody of the book series Spirit Animals (and I already am). The title is The twenty-six and I am NOT GIVING ANY SPOILERS. just so you know >:) (got to keep the suspense)

Bad Porta FC! Bayern Munich let me down, im upset!

I think Sesame Street created a parody of Game of Thrones because its a really popular show. GoT (Game of Thrones) is not a kid show and Sesame Street is, so they wanted to represent Game of Thrones in a funny and younger age TV show/parody.
I think Game of Chairs became popular in a few days because Game of Thrones and Sesame Street are both popular shows. Kids will get engaged in the parody because Sesame Street made an older aged show into a kids show and the kids would have enjoyed it. Children may have told their parents about this and then the parents get all exited to watch it then, BAM it gets viral.
If I had to come up with my own parody it would be about Covert Affairs, (most addicting show ever).
