Getting Gritty! Using persistence to become better!

5/21/2015

The above talk is all about how it isn’t only IQ and intelligence that predict your chances of success in life.  It turns out that GRIT, persistence and sticktoitiveness are far more important than what test scores say.  How can you use the growth mindset to help you become more gritty?

Using the above ted talk as inspiration,  write a one paragraph ted talk that inspires someone else.  There doesn’t have to be a specific topic, only that your end goal is to inspire and engage your reader with a story or idea that will help them develop themselves as a person.

Life is like a game, one day is a small round. There are days we wake up feeling terrible wondering if we’re going to make it through the day, there are other days where we feel great, like we are winning. But when we get stuck with a bad day you should try to to get the best out of it and at the end of the day you may feel better and more ready for tomorrow and what it brings

maybe if your feeling down look forward to the things that you are happy for because sometimes if you do that than you can get through a tough week

I can use the growth mindset to become more gritty by focusing on the process rather than the results.

Many inventors failed a number of time before succeeding. Inventors that changed the world, such as Benjamin Franklin and the Wright brothers, failed many times, but never gave up. Due to their grittiness, we now have such things as bifocals and planes. As the old saying goes, "Make mistakes. Learn from them. Move on."

Ok so lets be honest, everyone of you reading this probably have someone else in your life who you really dislike and trust me, as perfect as you think they are you should know that everyone has their own flaws. Life is hard trust me I have been there and I like to follow this quote "why do we need protection from death when life is just as deadly." but in a different way because I believe that your biggest enemy is yourself. So instead of focusing on those little bumps on the road, look at the big picture... LIFE ... and trust me you will never find a bigger picture.
Thank you

I think grittiness can help in our future. We need to have our mind set to what we are doing and confidence because it can take us a looooong way! Most of the successful people are gritty, very gritty!
If we try just as hard we can also go a long way. I heard a good message on the radio: If your mind is set to something(being gritty) than you will achieve it but if YOU decide to not do something than your mind will NOT be set to it!!!

I think we should "Stop and smell the roses." some would say,
that means we should "get out" get out of the house,
go ride a bike, kick a ball, play out side, have out side activities walk to the nearest store. These are good examples of what we should do but most of us sit on the couch and watch T.V, play video games ect
so get out side "smell the roses" enjoy life to its fullest!

Most people think about life like this.....
You need to be smart, cool, rich, to ever be successful at anything. But those people are wrong, life is not a win or loose kind of game it is a do your absolute best work and learn new things kind of game. There is no certain way to live life but you have to take some risks and adventures along the way. And you do not have to be successful to have a good life, you just have to try your best.

Well I think what exactly Erin said "we should focus more on the process rather then the results". People now a days are thinking...
"Hey I wonder what iPhones are going to come out in 2040!?"
But in reality we should be thinking...
"Hey, we should stop cutting down so many trees to save our planet".
I have to admit, I am scared for the future; what to come, where to go? You see I am more nervous than anyone else on earth about, what if we don't have a future? What if our earth is destroyed by then?
So back to what I was saying about Erin...
We should focus more about the process of saving our beautiful planet, rather then thinking about what our planet could become.

You got to stick with something and not give up if it get's hard. Life is very difficult but if you be persistent with your work and keep doing "Work" you will become excellent. If you see your test results and they are bad it just means you need more practice.

Life isn't about what you could be, It's about reaching out to what you can be. Everything starts out small and then gets bigger but making it bigger can only happen if you try. You might make mistakes, but that's part of learning. If you don't learn, then life will be really boring.

Losing a game isn't always fun, but if you think about it, losing is better. You might think that I am being insane but look, if you win you think you played amazing or that you are wonderful. But when you lose, instead of cursing your teammates or making up excuses why you lost, you can ask yourself this question. What can I do better? What could I do to improve? If you ask yourself this question you can understand that you made mistakes and that you can fix those mistakes next time.

Don't give up. You may fail, but you may succeed. Don't way yourself down to the negativity. weigh yourself down to the positivism. Think of it as a scale. don't let the negativism get to you, let the positivism take you over!

The future is terrifying, with people telling you that the economy is failing or that the earth will die. It truly is a stressing thing to think about, but if you keep on stressing about the future? How will you ever focus on the present? Because in the future, you'll be all sad that you never did anything but worry about the future. So you need to live in the present before thinking about your future, or else you'll regret it. Plus, if you focus on the present, it will shape your future into something different. Of course, thinking about the future sometimes is good, like thinking about the future when you're about to take a cigarette from a friend. Now that's good thinking about the future. Bad thinking is when you worry constantly about everything that will happen in the future. In a short recap, think about the future when you are about to make some questionable decisions, but don't think about it for everything you do.

Life is so unpredictable and uncertain these days but if one have determination, enthusiasm and strong will power and never to give up attitude will make impossible goals achievable. Its a complete mindset and a road map to success. Plan today, set goals of your life today, dream yourself wearing the successful hat and go after step by step,. Failure should not stop you rather should make you more stronger. Learn from your mistakes and move ahead but do not repeat the mistakes. Sure success is on your way,,,SMILE

Refusing to see failure as a permanent state is the most effective way to use the growth mindset.

When I was 2 years old I said only one word "juice". If I saw a picture of a swimming pool, I said "juice". If I saw my bathtub filled with water, I said "juice." If I was thirsty, I said "juice". My parents took me to a specialist and I was tested for autism. The specialist told my parents I would probably never talk. He said I was moderately to severely autistic. Today I can talk. Today I talk so much my Mom asks me to be quiet sometimes. But ten years ago, she held me and looked me in the eyes and said "you will talk". She went to every seminar on autism. She took me to speech therapists, She read everything she could on autism. But most importantly she refused to believe I would not talk. She talked to me all the time. She kept waiting for me to answer. Today I can speak. Today I can tell my mom "thank you ... your grit got me to talk."

I think that failing helps you learn more than always succeed. I think that because then you will strive more if you want to learn more. Also you might get frustrated and ask for help.

Don’t let setbacks get you down. When you come
across setbacks, think about things that have helped in
that situation before, and things that haven’t. Take
feedback on board, and make changes accordingly.
Setbacks don’t mean you’ve failed; just that you need to
try a different approach
