This weekend will be Thanksgiving which is always such a great time to reflect on positive things that are happening in your life. Each of us has different lived experiences but with reflection we can all find things that bring us joy and happiness in our lives. As we have this extra long weekend, I want each of you to think deeply about what brings you joy, about what you’re thankful for. For your post, can you write a TOP 5 List of things you’re most thankful for and include 1 sentence that explains WHY you’re thankful for that person / item / activity/ thing.
As an example
  1. My family - I am so thankful for my wife Jacey and my two daughters, Vera and Stella because I get so much joy when I spend time with them.
  2. Running - I am so thankful that my body can run, that I can use it to exercise and that I can find time to go out and listen to music while pushing myself to do my best.

Your turn; list your top 5’s and whys!

When we had our assembly last week, Ms. Bagg gave our class a challenge: to do something that has an impact, that makes a difference. Here is your challenge for the week. What small thing can you do that would help our school or community become a better place for all those who live in it?
For your blog post, I’d like you to write a paragraph that describes what you’ve done and how it made you feel!

For your blog post this week, we have a chance to practice writing paragraphs.  A paragraph is a way to organize your thoughts and ideas in a way that makes it easy to read and understand. A good paragraph will start with a topic sentence! This means the first sentence will tell the reader what the paragraph will be about. For your blog this week, can you write a paragraph that describes what your perfect classroom would look, sound and feel like? What sort of things would you put in your classroom if it could contain anything! Be as creative as you like! I can’t wait to read what you have in it!

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome: Three Promises

What an incredible first week it’s been! I have had so much fun starting to get to know each and every one of you! Part of your homework each week will be to write a response to a blog post that I will create (that’s my homework every week). I have had such a busy time trying to get ready for school to start this year and in this time, I’ve started to think about new beginnings and fresh starts. This is a new school for me and I feel like each day I’m learning so many new things. I am loving the vibe at CH Norton and I really look forward to continuing that learning. For your blog post this week, I want you to think about your start in the junior grades, your learning career in grade 4. What do you want to achieve? How will you get there?  How will you become the person you want to be, what steps will you have to take?
What are three rules or promises that you can make that will help you become this person?  What will you strive for this year?

This year I promise to:
1.  Give 110% in my lesson planning and delivery. I will try to engage you through the activities I plan in class, making them meaningful, powerful, and helpful.
2.  Listen to you. If you have questions, concerns, ideas, thoughts, or anything else and you would like to talk to me about them, I will be there to listen. This can be in class, after school, before school, or at break. Your voice matters, your ideas matter, you matter!

3.  Expect amazing things. I promise that my expectations for you will be high, and that I will expect that you can achieve in all subjects. I know that you are an exceptional learner and that you will succeed in so many different ways!
What do you promise?
