Inspiring you, inspiring me!

As I (Ms. Pecarski) approach the end of my teaching placement, I can’t believe how fast the time has gone.  This has been the most amazing learning experience for me, and I cannot thank you all enough.  To each and every one of you in class 6-2, I would like you to know how much you inspired me.  Each of you gave me the drive I needed to try my best each and every day.  It was because of you that this experience has been so
rewarding.  Thank you!

For your blog post this week, tell us… what inspires you?  In your comments, let us know, is there a person, or people in your life who motivate you to do your best?   What inspires you or gives you the drive to succeed?   What is your plan to make sure that you do your best and continue to be inspired until the end of the year?

Dear Future Generations: Sorry

4/25/2015

This week we celebrated Earth Day, a day to raise awareness and recognize the importance of environmental protection. As I was looking through the various events and videos that were posted, this one really caught my attention.  Watch one man’s ‘apology’ to future generations, for the damage being done today..  Although some of the points he makes refer to American politicians, I think the message he has to share is universal.  As you watch, think about his message.  Do you agree?  For your blog post, in the comments, reflect on the following:
1.  Is it too late to make a positive impact on the environment, or can we make a change?2.  What changes would you make to build a positive future for the generations to follow us?

What would you attempt to do if you couldn't fail?

This week, the teachers had a chance to go around the school and see some of the work that was going on in other classes.  In Ms. Pritchard’s class, there was something that really caught our attention.  She had posed this question to her class: “What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?”  The answers her students came up with were really inspiring, and got us wondering…. Is there something you have always wanted to do, but haven’t because you were worried about the outcome? Is there anything holding you back?   For your blog post this week, tell us: what would YOU do if you knew you couldn’t fail….

Parody Game of CHAIRS!

4/9/2015

This week, Sesame Street put out a parody of “Game of Thrones” which they titled “Game of Chairs”, and it has been generating a lot of buzz (over 1.5 million YouTube hits in 2 days).  A parody, by definition, is a “humorous imitation of a serious piece of literature…” (dictionary.com), but can really be a take on anything popular or well known (there were LOTS of “do you want to build a snowman” parodies that were coming out a few years ago, and Harry Potter before that).  It’s interesting how people can take an idea from a more serious form of text or media, and put a comedic spin on it to create something new.

Now considering that Sesame Street is a kids program, and Game of Thrones most definitely is not, why do you think Sesame Street would create a parody of that particular show? Why do you think it has become so popular in just a few short days?  If you had to come up with your own parody, what would you spoof?  Try to think of a creative title and a few details of what your parody would include.  For your blog post this week, post your thoughts on the video Sesame Street put out as well as your ideas for your own parody.

April Fool's Day 2015

4/1/2015

April Fool’s Day 2015:  In class this week, we saw a few different videos and pranks put out by big companies to celebrate April Fool’s Day.  Think back to your own life and what you’ve seen and done for April Fool’s Day.  Tell the story of the best April Fool’s Day prank that you’ve ever done, had done to you, or heard about.  If you can’t think of one that you were involved with, you can write down a prank that you would do if you had the chance.  Be creative and make sure that you are being descriptive in your sharing.   Describe the setting, and the events, make it REAL for the reader!
