This week, please watch a powerful video called Look Up by Gary Turk. In it, he shares a spoken word poem with a big message--sometimes we miss out on the real world because we’re too busy looking down at our screens.
The video asked us to think about how we use technology and what we might be missing: a chance to meet someone new, a beautiful moment in nature, or even just a real face-to-face laugh with a friend. It’s not about saying technology is bad, but about remembering to stay connected to the world around us—not just the one on our screens.
This week, your job is to think about what the video meant to you and write a blog post based on one of the following questions:
🔹 What do you think was the most important message in Look Up?
🔹 Have you ever missed out on something because you were distracted by technology?
🔹 What are some ways we can balance technology use and real-life experiences?
🔹 Can you write a short story or scene where a character chooses to “look up” and something amazing happens?
I think the most powerful part of the video was when Gary said, “We’re a generation of idiots—smartphones and dumb people.” That hit hard! It made me think of the time I was at the park, but I spent most of the time texting instead of playing with my girls. Now I wonder what other fun moments I’ve missed. From now on, I’m going to try to put my phone away when I get home.

I was sitting at the kitchen table, eyes locked on my Chromebook. I had homework to finish, but I wasn’t really working. I was scrolling through videos, half-laughing at things I wouldn't remember five minutes later. My fingers tapped the keys, my mind somewhere else.“Samaira!” my little brother shouted from the back door. “Come here! There’s a deer in the yard!”“Just a minute!” I called back, not looking up.“But it’s right now!” he insisted.I sighed, annoyed. Couldn’t he see I was busy?A few seconds passed. Then I remembered that line from a video we watched in class “We’re a generation of idiots smartphones and dumb people.” It hit me again, like it had the first time. Was I really going to miss something real, something beautiful, for a screen?I closed the Chromebook.I walked outside, and there it was. A deer, standing at the edge of our backyard. Its ears twitched, and its eyes sparkled in the sunlight. It looked straight at us at me. For a second, everything was still. Quiet. Magical.And just like that, it leapt into the woods and was gone.I turned to my brother, and he smiled. “Told you,” he said. I smiled back, grateful I looked up in time. (it actually happened when I was in California but my brother cannot talcs but I am pretty sure that’s what he meant )

I think the most important message in the video was: So look up from your phone, shut down that display because it was repeated many times. A way that we can balance technology is to set a timer for how long you can use it. My story: Bob was playing video games on his computer and he was getting obsessed with it. Suddenly, he realized that he was missing out on all the fun around him. So he closed his computer and looked up and saw something amazing: a giant flock of birds taking off and IT WAS AWESOME!!! From then on, he decided to not play video games as much as usual.

The Story of Bob, PART TWO!!! Bob was playing blox fruits on his phone and was a noob, but his eyes we're glued to the screen. (Not Literaly, because that would hurt.) Then, at exactly 11:00 AM, A DRAGON FLEW ABOVE HIM! (U guys know wat to do, DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!)
But the dragon tried to get Bob to be his owner, but Bob wasn't paying attention, so the dragon breathed fire on him, but he STILL DIDN'T NOTICE THE DRAGON! So at 11:01 the dragon flied away. But then, Bob from the year 3100 in a time machine said "HEY YOU! Wait,ʷᵒᵘˡᵈ ⁱᵗ ᵇᵉ ʰᵉʸ ʸᵒᵘ ᵒʳ ʰᵉʸ ᵐᵉ﹖ANYWAY I'm gonna send you to 11:00 BUT THIS TIME look up, like, UP UP. So Bob did what Bob said, and got A COOL NEW DRAGON PET! (Do I have to say it? DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN! The End, or is it? DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

Once I was sitting on my couch watching a movie and then my friend knocked on the door to see if I could play with her. But I said "No I'm watching a movie right know maybe another time" Then she left. Then my mom said "it is so nice outside why don't you want to play?" I said "I'm watching a movie right now" Then she shoved me outside and I played with my friend and noticed how fun it was. So from now on I will not let electronics get in the way of playing with my friends

One day Ally was walking to school on a beautiful day but of course she was missing it because she was looking down at her phone. She was texting people she would see in two minutes and she was using her camera to see how she looked. But what Ally didn’t know was that the lake was shimmering, the sun was shining bright, birds were chirping and flying in the sky and the sunrise was beautiful. The person walking in front of Ally stopped and because Ally was staring at her phone she bumped into him. Ally said hey what was that for keep walking and the boy whose name was Adam said look at the view. Ally said what view there is no view it is nature Adam said look up Ally looked up and gasped. Harry pointed at the sunrise and said maybe next time take a look up from your phone and Ally responded with definitely.

Once I was sitting on my couch playing Fortnite but then my sister came downstairs with the Exploding Minions game but I said “GET OUT OF THE TV I AM PLAYING FORTNITE.” Then she she said “Please play with me!” And the I sighed, “fine!” I started playing the game and I had so much fun. Then I put my Fortnite on sleep mode and my Nintendo, also my tv and finally my Ipad.

-On day Emma was walking in the park and the sun was shining but she was missing the part! Emma was on her phone texting her friends stuff and playing games on her phone. But emma did not hear all the beautiful sounds! Like the birds chirping,the river and the the person in front of emma stop but of course emma was not paying attention because she was on her phone! The guy in front of emma said (Hey excuse me) Emma said what do you need! Why do you keep staring at your phone its a beautiful why are you on your phone so much. The boy was saying look at the view. Emma said there view what are you talking about! Look right there in the corner! Emma gasped and said OMG the sun is so beautiful! Kyle said next time don't be on your phone so much when there a beatiuful sun right in fornt of you!

One day a girl named Riley was walking in the park and looking down at her phone texting her friends. What she didn’t know was that her future husband was about to bump into her and that’s how they were supposed to meet. But they didn’t. Because Riley was still looking at her phone texting even after they bumped into each other. She looked down at her phone and said ‘sorry’ but kept walking. She never found out what she missed out on. :)

Once i was playing Minecraft with my cousins and my sister but then I saw some kid playing some soccer so i told my cousins that I had to go but in reality i was going to play some soccer so I went outside and ask the kid if I could play he said sure it was a 1-on-1 it was good match but then some other kid saw us play ask us to join and then i realized
How much fun it was. So from now on he will not play as much as usual.

Once my family asked me if i wanted to watch a movie and i was sad because i missed out because i was stuck on my phone. i remember when everyone would meet up and have so much fun but now technology took over. I think the most important message is get off your phones we should just enjoy the time that we have as much as we need technology we should just put it down and spend time with our familys do something fun like play a board game ride a bike go swimming play a sport.

john was a little boy and whenever he had the chance to go outside he didn't and missed out he would always play video games. but one day he desided to go out but he stayed on his phone but then his friend told him to look up and he did. he went to play with his friends.after that he always went out with his friends. the end

Firstly stop copying me with the DUN DUN DUN ok Now lets start.

I think the most powerful part of the video was when Gary said,“We’re a generation of idiots smartphones and dumb people.”.That stood out to me and I really think that is true.

One day I was playing blox fruits and then my sister was like MAAAACOOOSS is comeing back from lion king I could of said Hi or something but I was to busy grinding so I did not say anything then I was like I should say hi after 2 min but he already left.my sister was like whatch you doing? and I said NOTHING DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN now I know why I should focus more on the outside world than on the screen.
